Based on the situation that universal mill’s roll rings appeared broken roller accident in actual production, the paper put the horizontal roll ring of universal mill as the research subjects. The thermal structure coupling field of horizontal roll ring reaches a dynamic equilibrium and the stress distribution of horizontal roller ring and finds the most dangerous parts of the roller ring is rolling groove. This study provides a solid foundation for further research of the roller ring strength, deformation and fatigue life.

The housing fillet of universal mill affects the strengthen and stiffness of mill. It is necessary to optimize the housing fillet. In this paper, the simulated annealing algorithm (SA) combined with finite element method (FEM) , a new kind of structural optimization method is established. MATLAB language is used to compile the program combined the SA with FEM to optimize housing fillet of universal mill. Compared with the zero order and first order optimization method of ANSYS program, the result of this optimal method is better.

In addition to the consumption caused by wear,thermal cracking and flaking,the roller ring of universal mill often occurs the roll-off accident in the rolling production. In this paper,put universal mill’s horizontal roll ring as the study subject, analyze its fatigue life using fe-safe software and estimate the fatigue life of roller ring, which has a certain reference value for the Time selection of Roll change and roll grinding .

This paper used the finite element software to simulate the process of the heavy rail rolling deformation between the UR and ER racks. It studied on the stress distribution law of the universal mill pass, the relationship between the universal mill unbalanced rates of velocity and tension changes of the rack, effect of the universal mill unbalanced rates of velocity on the change of the rolling geometric dimensions caused by the unbalanced rates of velocity. The research can guide the adjustment of the dimensional accuracy of the rail’s universal rolling.

Using the finite element software ANSYS/LS-DYNA for the universal rolling machine to simulate,research unit of the universal rolling deformation etc, and the use of universal mill for heavy rail rolling to simulate of lead samples, study of both. By comparing experimental results, the results show rolling simulation of laboratory lead samples and finite element simulations of computer are basically the same, use the universal pass, the difference of pressure coefficient for the rail head and rail base and rail back that work on the workpiece at the universal pass is small, deformation of workpiece is uniformity, it ensure the dimensional accuracy of the finished rail on the rail section.

The uneven elongation between flange and web can make long tongue in the head of H-beam, which can lead to too long crop end length. In order to control the tongue length of H-beam head, different elongation ratio between flange and web is put forward to control the head displacement of H-beam. If the flange and web elongation is uniform, the loss of crop end length will be reduced. At the same time, different cooling speed of flange and web is set to keep the section uniform temperature. Experimental investigations of H-beam rolling are carried out on the universal mill in the Rolling Lab of Hebei polytechnic University. Comparisons between experimental value and simulation results prove the correctness of elongation ratio of flange and web.
