The Biden Administration believes that suspending COVID-19 vaccine patents will expedite the swift development of high quality “cheap” versions of existing vaccines and hasten the pandemic’s end. This view is dangerously wrong. Vaccinating the world is essential, but temporarily waiving patent rights for COVID-19 vaccines (also known as “compulsory licensing”) will actually slow their availability to the developing world.   While providing no gain, compulsory licensing promises lots of pain. Waiving patent protection discourages cutting-edge research investments, which in turn produce breakthrough treatments not just for COVID-19, but for other diseases, like cancer. Weakening these protections would be anti-patient and counterproductive.   The reality is that, in order to save the world, we must all work together as partners. The remarkable speed with which we developed diagnostics, therapeutics, and vaccines to combat COVID-19 points to the need for more collaboration, not less. Patents are a foundational principle upon which that success rests.   While the policy of temporarily waiving patents seems fair and humanitarian, the devil is in the details.  Such a policy will not result in a single citizen of the developing world getting vaccinated one minute sooner. In fact, the unintended consequences are the reverse. More confusion, lower quality, less transnational cooperation. A triple play of disastrous global proportions.

Abstrak IndiHome merupakan layanan triple-play dari PT. Telkom Tbk yang terdiri dari Internet, Telepon Rumah dan IPTV. Kualitas layanan menjadi isu penting ketika banyak keluhan dari pelanggan IndiHome dan cenderung berpengaruh pada tingkat kepuasan terhadap layanan perusahaan ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis tingkat kepentingan/harapan konsumen produk IndiHome terhadap penanganan keluhan yang diberikan PT. Telkom Tbk; menganalisis kinerja (performance) penanganan keluhan konsumen terhadap produk IndiHome yang diberikan ke PT. Telkom Tbk; menghitung tingkat kepuasan konsumen terhadap kemampuan PT. Telkom Tbk menangani keluhan konsumen produk IndiHome; merancang Model Penanganan Keluhan Pelanggan Produk Indihome di Kota Ambon; dan merekomendasikan tindakan tindak-lanjut dalam upaya peningkatan penanganan keluhan PT. Telkom Tbk.Metode analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif, Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA), dan Indeks kepuasan konsumen (CSI). Hasil penelitian menunjukantingkat kepentingan atau harapan pelanggan atas penanganan keluhan di PT. Telkom Tbk Wilayah Maluku di Kota Ambon secara keseluruhan berada pada level menengah; persepsi pelanggan atas kinerja penanganan keluhan di perusahaan ini secara keseluruhan berada dalam kategori cukup baik; pelanggan cukup puas dengan kinerja penanganan keluhan oleh perusahaan; Model Penanganan Keluhan Pelanggan Produk Indihome di Kota Ambon menunjukkan peningkatan kualitas hasil penanganan keluhan pelanggan memerlukan peningkatan kinerja pada atribut-atribut kuadran I dan II dengan pembatasan kinerja pada atribut-atribut kuadran III dan IV; dan hal yang perlu dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kepuasan pelanggan atas penanganan keluhan di perusahaan ini adalah penambahan staf customer service, penambahan staf assurance, memberikan pelatihan kepada staf secara berulang terkait dengan masalah-masalah yang dihadapi konsumen, serta memberikan prosedur yang cepat dan mudah.

This article unravels the evolution of the Chinese OTT TV and triple-network convergence in the larger context of global media and communication policy. The balancing act between market innovation and content gatekeeping has led State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, the regulator of the broadcast sector, to subjugate the relevant players of OTT TV and triple play to “select commercialization,” a logic that inevitably led to convoluted policy configurations. The authors pursue a market power analysis that lays bare the competing and/or collaborative relationships between multiple actors in China’s online TV value chain, that is, cable broadcasters, telecom operators, Internet companies, OTT licensees, and smart TV makers. The article ends with a proposition that the future of the Chinese online TV industry is increasingly organized as an ecosystem economy.

The modern development of multiservice communication networks (MÑN) is characterized by the desire of operators to provide users with an unlimited range of services with guaranteed quality of service (QoS). QoS is determined by the stability of the network’s functioning, that is, its ability to function without errors. The existing routing algorithms in modern networks focus the main load on the most productive sections, while the rest of the network is used quite poorly. This is confirmed by the results of studies [1,2], in which the structure of modern global communication networks is assigned to the class of small-world graphs. Obviously, that the increased connectivity of such networks determines high indicators of its stability, but at the same time, this route redundancy is poorly used by existing routing protocols to provide QoS when transmitting different traffic (triple-play: audio, video, and data) [3, 4]. There is also no work devoted to the analysis of the possibilities of sharing different routes (route parallelism) for the implementation of QoS enhancement mechanisms in the MÑN. This article discusses the technological concept of a network with route parallelism in communication networks built on the basis of the IP protocol family.

<p>The development of increasingly sophisticated technology follows the needs of the community, one of them in the telecommunications world is FTTH (Fiber to the Home) which is an optical signal delivery format from the center of the provider to the homes of costumers by using optical fiber as a medium of delivery. Delivery by using this FTTH technology can save costs and provide better service to customers. The study was conducted by interview and observation methods with network objects and FTTH components belonging to Telkom Semarang and through the literature method by searching some literature. FTTH configuration starts with the ONT to rosette connected using a patchcord cable then from rosette to OTP using an indoor cable then from OTP to ODP outside the home is connected using a dropcore cable. ODP itself is the result of the distribution of distribution cables/ aerial cables leading to ODC. ODC to STO/FTM/ODF using feeder cable. FTTH network is very effective to use, because it can use triple play services (telephone, internet and IPTV) with just 1ONT/ modem at the customer’s side.</p>
