With the development of microprocessor components and, accordingly, a significant expansion of the use of computer technologies, remote measurement techniques are being developed. These include telemetry and remote control of technical systems or their components in industry, research, home appliances and other fields. In this paper, the author suggests how to build a local web-server based on a microcontroller with an ARM Cortex-M4 core, which can be interacted with via an http-browser with Internet access. The block diagram of the local web-server on the basis of the STM32F407 microcontroller with the ARM Cortex-M4 core is suggested. Hardware modeling of the local web-server with a two-processor architecture including the main controller and the Modbus processor with the RS-485 interface, which provides information exchange via the Modbus RTU protocol, is done. The main controller is equipped with an indicator system based on functionally programmable LED indicators, an LCD indicator of type BC1602A, a local keyboard, USB and SWD ports for debugging and programming of the microcontroller, an external Ethernet module providing a temperature sensor and the Modbus RTU relay module, which interacts with the main controller of the local web-server via the Modbus processor with the RS-485 interface using the Modbus RTU protocol. A software for interaction of the local web-server and a http-browser has been developed. The local web-server was tested with different types of http browsers, proved to be reliable and showed the response time which depends on the number of sensors and is less than 1 second in case of 9 sensors.

Background/AimsTo better understand seasonal and weekday intraocular pressure (IOP) variations, long-term daily IOP measurements were assessed in patients with glaucoma using an intraocular telemetric sensor.MethodsThis prospective, open-label, multicentre observational study analysed the IOP variation patterns in 22 eyes of 22 patients with primary open-angle glaucoma (67.8±6.8 years, 36.4% female) who had undergone placement of an intraocular telemetric sensor at the time of cataract surgery. The telemetric system combines an implantable IOP sensor with a hand-held reading device. Patients were instructed to self-measure their IOP as often as desired, but at least four times daily. Analysis of variance and Tukey multiple-comparison correction were used to assess the statistical significance of average and peak IOP variations between individual weekdays and months.ResultsEach enrolled patient recorded daily IOP measurements for an average duration of 721 days. On average, IOPs were highest on Wednesdays and lowest on Fridays (p=0.002). There were significant variations of IOP throughout the year, and IOP showed a seasonal pattern. Between mid-winter (December–January) and mid-summer months, there was a reduction in mean IOP of 8.1% (-1.55 mm Hg, p<0.05).ConclusionThis study confirms previously observed seasonal variations of IOP. IOP was significantly higher in winter compared with summer months. Moreover, IOP was lower on Friday than on other days. The explanation for these results is not known.

The research on television market and audience has been so far dominated by a telemetric system operating within a determined panel in the longitudinal manner. Nevertheless, the rise of digital era marked by the growing consumption of audiovisual content and TV in the Internet via VOD systems, subscription services, streaming etc. has changed the way the TV audience should be measured and tackled in order to deliver the significant data to advertisers. The digital services and therefore the online ads consumption are forcing the telemetric companies to re-design their methodology and measurement services. This thus requires not only new measurement methods and sample designs or research planning but also demonstrate new challenges and requirements starting from technical aspects and finishing on social and economic ones. Therefore, it is of great interests to find out how digital TV audience era is changing the way telemetric services are designed and conducted globally and at Polish market. The study attempts to find out how the TV audience measurement service is responding to the changes caused by digitalisation, which challenges and requirements have to be met in order to approach the issue of digitalisation of TV market in terms of the research planning and methodology. Finally, the present research pretend to determine and describe how the global market, and the Polish one in particular, perceives the services offered by Nielsen Audience Measurement. The research includes the series of individual semi-structured online individual interviews with managers and board of directors of the company as well as digital ads ratings department in Poland and headquarters in Switzerland. The results demonstrate the key changes, opportunities and challenges resulted from the digitalisation of TV consumption as perceived by management board, the company’s strategy towards digital convergence and the estimation of the needs of new markets and audiences on the course of the digital transformation.

Wilga Symposium on Photonics Applications [1] has been serving the national and international communities of young researchers since nearly a quarter of the century. Ph.D. students, active in photonics research and technology, optoelectronics, optical engineering, and associated fields like electronics, materials engineering, mechatronics, and ITC present successive developments of their work. The subjects embrace optical fiber technology, optical communications, sensors, light sources and lighting, research and industrial applications. Since its beginning Wilga has gathered more than 5000 presentations by Ph.D. students, out of which around 3000 were published internationally in the Proceedings of SPIE [2-5]. The paper digests concisely some of the achievements of Wilga2019 [6] on occasion of the 10th Anniversary of the Photonics Letters of Poland. Wilga Symposium on Photonics Applications is a very important pillar of the PSP Society focusing strongly its interest on young photonics researchers.
