The blatant dumping of textile dyes in to local drinking water sources has become a major problem around the world. To provide a more efficient solution compared to current filters while recycling agricultural waste, pomegranate rind powder has been combined with nanofibers created by electrospinning to remove dyes from wastewater. Three trials: pure pomegranate powder (PGP), phase-inversion membranes with PGP, and electrospun nanofibers with PGP, were created to test the feasibility of such a solution. A comparison of the methods was done through UV-visible study. The surface morphology was characterized with a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The molecular functional groups of the nanofibers were identified through Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. When compared to phase-inversion membrane, proposed nanofibers with pomegranate rind solution showed more efficiency, and pure pomegranate powder solution had the least absorbance of dye and pomegranate incorporated nanofibers can be potentially applied as sustainable membranes in dye removal application.
