Abstract With the development of global energy Internet and demand for UHV transmission, uHV transmission lines will increase rapidly and become more and more important for national economic development. The uHV transmission lines will increase year by year and become increasingly important to the economic development of the country. It is necessary to study the cleaning and detection technology of transmission line insulators that the insulators of UHVDC transmission lines such as large leakage rate, low detection efficiency and difficult cleaning of insulators. Therefore, the development of uhv transmission line insulator hot-line cleaning robot and detection integration has important engineering significance and practical value to improve the level of the operation of the uhv power transmission engineering maintenance, safe and reliable operation of the protection of uhv transmission lines. In this paper, the research on the integrated robot for live cleaning and detection of uHV transmission line insulators will greatly promote the live operation of UHV transmission lines in China. It can be directly applied to the live operation of UHV DC and can be promoted nationwide.

The closed clamp is a standard tool for the insulator replacement in ultrahigh voltage (UHV) transmission lines, which is mainly made of titanium alloy material and weighs more than 27 kg that greatly reduces the working efficiency for operators. Due to the lightweight demand, carbon fiber composite materials are applied to design a new type of clamp, in which mechanical properties of new fixtures need to be fulfilled while considering poor impact resistance and low interlaminar shear strength of carbon fiber composite materials. To excavate a high-strength ply structure, finite element progressive damage strength analysis is employed to evaluate the mechanical properties of three different ply angles of the carbon fiber closed fixture, in which Tsai–Wu strength theory is thought as the strength judgment basis for carbon fiber composite materials. After comparison with the displacement-load curves, the three different ply angles fail to meet the strength requirements. So, a carbon fiber laminate structure with an outer cladding for carbon fiber closed fixtures is raised and verified. The analysis results show that the laminate structure meets the strength requirements. Destructive test of the new closed clamp is conducted to verify the correctness of the proposed method, and the weight is reduced by 36.46%.

Since the second industrial revolution, electric energy has always been the most important and indispensable clean energy in the international community. As a kind of transmission technology with small loss ratio and long transmission distance, UHV transmission is widely used and vigorously promoted in the world. However, UHV transmission lines are often assumed to be vulnerable to thunderstorm discharge in some harsh geographical environment. In order to improve the calculation accuracy of line shielding failure rate, an improved electrical geometric model is proposed to study the shielding failure characteristics of transmission lines under complex mountainous areas, and various typical characteristics including mountain tops, valleys, slopes, climbing, and crossing trenches are summarized.

Generation projects are generally located in areas nearer to availability of inputs required for power generation such as water, coal, approach roads and having rail transport facilities. The load centers are at different locations depending its own convenience load requirement. Hence there is necessity of transmission of bulk power from generation sites to load or consumer points. Hence the utility of power transmission through EHV/UHV transmission lines. Further for transmission of bulk power from one region of country to another region also warrants establishment of Transmission lines. The technical as well as social and commercial criteria are very important while construction and erection of EHV and UHV transmission lines. These issues are of public as well as organization importance and hence efforts have been made in this presentation to elaborate in detail.
