Abstract The purpose of this paper is to explore the way immigrant entrepreneurs (IEs) capture transnational opportunities in their home and host countries. Through an identity lens, this study adopts a qualitative approach in examining transnational entrepreneurship activities conducted by IEs from three countries (Indonesia, Pakistan and South Korea [henceforth Korea]) in one host country (Malaysia). The findings indicate that IEs’ home-host country identities enable them to recognize and exploit entrepreneurial opportunities in multiple countries through unique resources difficult to be imitated by competitors in their home and host countries. This paper contributes to the international entrepreneurship literature by introducing an identity-sensitive model of immigrant entrepreneurship in transnational spaces which will be useful for policy and practice concerning trade and migration.

This paper investigates the layered synchronization and identification of uncertain delayed hierarchical networks, featured by highlights in three aspects: first, the presentation of a multilayered delayed network model, which can be regarded as a 3D stereochemical structure in compliance with the ever-developing trend of hierarchical network modeling structure; second, the design of a multi-identification scheme combined with uncertain delayed hierarchical networks, which matches the unknown and hierarchical properties of the proposed networks; and third, the construction of a layered control method of Lyapunov function, which synthesizes the factors of the unknown, time delay and hierarchy. Based on these points, the laws of layered synchronization between drive hierarchical networks (DHNs) and response hierarchical networks (RHNs) are derived, the dual identification criteria for monitoring topological structures and identifying system parameters, respectively, are provided, and the hierarchical multiformity of the proposed method is validated through abundant numerical simulations in the end.

As the role of design grows in prominence in the workplace, managing designers such that they can effectively collaborate in multifunctional innovation teams becomes an important consideration. We draw on social identity and paradox research to extend insights on this topic. We suggest that, to operate effectively in the workplace, designers need to experience both similarity-with and distinctiveness-from other colleagues, and that these needs are paradoxical. We argue that tensions arising from these paradoxical needs can be managed through Dual Identification – a model which promotes dual identities, allowing the fulfilment of both needs of sameness and difference. We propose that design leaders can enable Dual Identification in designers through consistent language and associated visuals, and that this will allow designers to feel secure in their identity as both a designer, and as an innovation team member. We suggest that, ultimately, this security will translate to enhanced collaboration of designers in innovation teams.
