Abstract Duality games are a way of looking at wave-particle duality. In these games. Alice and Bob together are playing against the House. The House specifies, at random, which of two sub-games Alice and Bob will play. One game, Ways, requires that they obtain path information about a particle going through an N-path interferometer and the other, Phases, requires that they obtain phase information. In general, because of wave-particle duality, Alice and Bob cannot always win the overall game. However, if the required amount of path and phase information is not too great, for example specifying a set of paths or phases, one of which is the right one, then they can always win. Here we study examples of duality games that can always be won, and develop a wave-particle duality relation expressed only in terms of mutual information to help analyze these games.

AbstractIn this paper, we carry out an assessment of cosmic distance duality relation (CDDR) based on the latest observations of HII galaxies acting as standard candles and ultra-compact structure in radio quasars acting as standard rulers. Particularly, two machine learning reconstruction methods [Gaussian Process (GP) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN)] are applied to reconstruct the Hubble diagrams from observational data. We show that both approaches are capable of reconstructing the current constraints on possible deviations from the CDDR in the redshift range $$z\sim 2.3$$ z ∼ 2.3 . Considering four different parametric methods of CDDR, which quantify deviations from the CDDR and the standard cosmological model, we compare the results of the two different machine learning approaches. It is observed that the validity of CDDR is in well agreement with the current observational data within $$1\sigma $$ 1 σ based on the reconstructed distances through GP in the overlapping redshift domain. Moreover, we find that ultra-compact radio quasars could provide $$10^{-3}$$ 10 - 3 -level constraints on the violation parameter at high redshifts, when combined with the observations of HII galaxies. In the framework of ANN, one could derive robust constraints on the violation parameter at a precision of $$10^{-2}$$ 10 - 2 , with the validity of such distance duality relation within $$2\sigma $$ 2 σ confidence level.

In this work, an exact renormalization group treatment of honeycomb lattice leading to an exact relation between the coupling strengths of the honeycomb and the triangular lattices is presented. Using the honeycomb and the triangular duality relation, the critical coupling values of honeycomb and triangular lattices are calculated exactly by the simultaneous solution of the renormalized relation and the duality relation, without using the so-called star-triangular transformation. Apparently, the obtained coupling relation is unique. It not only takes place the role of the star triangular relation, but it is also the only exact relation obtained from renormalization group theory other than the 1D Ising chain. An exact pair correlation function expression relating the nearest neighbors and the next nearest neighbor correlation functions are also obtained for the honeycomb lattice. Utilizing this correlation relation, an exact expression of the correlation length of the honeycomb lattice is calculated analytically for the coupling constant values less than the critical value in the realm of the scaling theory. The critical exponents [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] are also calculated as [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text].

Abstract We study an improved holographic model for the strongly coupled nodal line semimetal which satisfies the duality relation between the rank two tensor operators $$ \overline{\psi}{\gamma}^{\mu v}\psi $$ ψ ¯ γ μv ψ and $$ \overline{\psi}{\gamma}^{\mu v}{\gamma}^5\psi $$ ψ ¯ γ μv γ 5 ψ . We introduce a Chern-Simons term and a mass term in the bulk for a complex two form field which is dual to the above tensor operators and the duality relation is automatically satisfied from holography. We find that there exists a quantum phase transition from a topological nodal line semimetal phase to a trivial phase. In the topological phase, there exist multiple nodal lines in the fermionic spectrum which are topologically nontrivial. The bulk geometries are different from the previous model without the duality constraint, while the resulting properties are qualitatively similar to those in that model. This improved model provides a more natural ground to analyze transports or other properties of strongly coupled nodal line semimetals.
