Growing evidence supports a potential link between dietary gluten intake and neurodegenerative disease in susceptible populations. Observational data supporting this link are described along with interventional study data evaluating the effects of restricting gluten from the diet in patients with neurologic disorders. Suggested underlying mechanisms between gluten intake and neurodegeneration are discussed.

This research aims to find out the challenges of food business by using e-business in the city of Medan and some UINSU students who sell food or small snacks. This study uses qualitatively derifrift by collecting observational data, documentation, and interviews. The results showed: 1) can still sell online at this time (covid 19). 2) The common challenge felt or experienced is, consumers who want to be fast and instant, feel afraid of failing in trying new things such as selling online in times of pandemic like this, must be extra in attracting customers who are not as usual. 3) There is a way to deal with these challenges by promoting merchandise through social media even though it has to increase the cost to do the promotion

Abstract Background: Observational data are increasingly being used to conduct external comparisons to clinical trials. In this study, we empirically examined whether different methodological approaches to longitudinal missing data affected study conclusions in this setting. Methods: We used data from one clinical trial and one prospective observational study, both Norwegian multicenter studies including patients with recently diagnosed rheumatoid arthritis and implementing similar treatment strategies, but with different stringency. A binary disease remission status was defined at 6, 12, and 24 months in both studies. After identifying patterns of longitudinal missing outcome data, we evaluated the following five approaches to handle missingness: analyses of patients with complete follow-up data, multiple imputation (MI), inverse probability of censoring weighting (IPCW), and two combinations of MI and IPCW. Results: We found a complex non-monotone missing data pattern in the observational study (N=328), while missing data in the trial (N=188) was monotone due to drop-out. In the observational study, only 39.0% of patients had complete outcome data, compared to 89.9% in the trial. All approaches to missing data indicated favorable outcomes of the treatment strategy in the trial and resulted in similar study conclusions. Variations in results across approaches were mainly due to variations in estimated outcomes for the observational data. Conclusions: Five different approaches to handle longitudinal missing data resulted in similar conclusions in our example. However, the extent and complexity of missing observational data affected estimated comparative outcomes across approaches, highlighting the need for careful consideration of methods to account for missingness when using observational data as external controls to trial data.

Abstract We calculate the Galactic Chemical Evolution of Mo and Ru by taking into account the contribution from ν p-process nucleosynthesis. We estimate yields of p-nuclei such as 92,94Mo and 96,98Ru through the ν p-process in various supernova progenitors based upon recent models. In particular, the ν p-process in energetic hypernovae produces a large amount of p-nuclei compared to the yield in ordinary core-collapse SNe. Because of this, the abundances of 92,94Mo and 96,98Ru in the Galaxy are significantly enhanced at [Fe/H] = 0 by the ν p-process. We find that the ν p-process in hypernovae is the main contributor to the elemental abundance of 92Mo at low metallicity [Fe/H] < −2. Our theoretical prediction of the elemental abundances in metal-poor stars becomes more consistent with observational data when the ν p-process in hypernovae is taken into account.

AbstractGravitational decoupled compact polytropic hybrid stars are here addressed in generalized Horndeski scalar-tensor gravity. Additional physical properties of hybrid stars are scrutinized and discussed in the gravitational decoupling setup. The asymptotic value of the mass function, the compactness, and the effective radius of gravitational decoupled hybrid stars are studied for both cases of a bosonic and a fermionic prevalent core. These quantities are presented and discussed as functions of Horndeski parameters, the decoupling parameter, the adiabatic index, and the polytropic constant. Important corrections to general relativity and generalized Horndeski scalar-tensor gravity, induced by the gravitational decoupling, comply with available observational data. Particular cases involving white dwarfs, boson stellar configurations, neutron stars, and Einstein–Klein–Gordon solutions, formulated in the gravitational decoupling context, are also scrutinized.

Randomized clinical trials have a longstanding status as the gold standard in detecting causal effects. In the social sciences, randomized clinical trials are rare because of their attendant logistical and cost burdens. Most social science research makes use of observational data. The empirical challenge posed by observational data is that treatment assignment is no longer random. This challenge continues to spur innovation across many disciplines toward more sophisticated techniques for estimating causal relationships. Scholars have developed a common theoretical framework for estimating causal effects, often called the potential outcomes or counterfactual framework. This chapter demonstrates the propensity score matching methodology as a way to estimate causal effects using observational data. Throughout, an example from public administration research, the effect of government employment on volunteerism, is used to illustrate the concepts. Empirical estimates of the treatment effects show that there may be a causal effect of government employment on volunteerism.
