This thesis discusses the life and work of the eighteenth-century French composer, Julie Pinel. Pinel's extant music comprises one collection of music, Nouveau recueil d'airs serieux et a boire a une et deux voix, de Brunettes a 2 dessus, scene pastorale, et cantatille avec accompagnement, published in 1737, of which a critical edition has been produced in volume II of this thesis. There is little information regarding Pinel's life and work, however, the preface and privilege included in her Nouveau recueil provide some clues as to Pinel's biography. Her life and music are examined, with reference to the social, literary and musical environment she was working in. An added dimension is that Pinel was working as a professional musicienne at a time when women were beginning to find their voice and place in professional society. Pinel claims authorship of the majority of the poems in her collection, and the rest come from anonymous sources. Pinel's literary and musical output illustrates her obvious knowledge of the current trends in eighteenth-century France, with most of her poetry written for a female poetic voice, displaying many of the fashionable themes of the day. Her music displays a variety of styles, ranging from simple airs in binary form, traditionally found in most French airs serieux et a boire, to the operatic, and the fashionable rococo styles.

Cryptography is a significant study area at present since it can be vital to protect exceedingly sensitive and secret information from illegal fraud during network transmission. One of the basic cryptographic algorithms is the Vigenere cipher, which is a very easy encryption method to be used as an alternative to Caesar cipher for encrypting the text of the message. In this paper, we enhance the Vigenere algorithm and propose a new method by shifting the key in each message to prevent repeating the messages. Also, it converts the messages into binary form rather than an alphabet. Furthermore, it adds a few bits of random padding to each block of outputs to send a series of bits. The proposed algorithm is named “Circular-Left-Shift Key-based Vigener Algorithm using MSB Binary (CLS-V-MSB)”. Finally, this technique slightly raises the size of the ciphertext, but substantially increases the cipher's protection, achieves the security objectives (authentication, confidentiality, integrity, freshness, and non-repudiation), and avoids Kasiski and Friedman.

A Thue equation is a Diophantine equation of the form f(x; y) = r, where f is an irreducible binary form of degree at least 3, and r is a given nonzero rational number. A set S of at least three positive integers is called a D13-set if the product of any of its three distinct elements is a perfect cube minus one. We prove that any D13-set is finite and, for any positive integer a, the two-tuple {a, 2a} is extendible to a D13-set 3-tuple, but not to a 4-tuple. Using the well-known Thue equation 2x3 - y3 = 1, we show that the only cubic-triangular number is 1.

The article describes a number of little-known methods for translating natural numbers from one number system to another. The first is a method for converting large numbers from the decimal system to the binary system, based on multiple divisions of a given number and all intermediate quotients by 64 (or another number equal to 2n ), followed by writing the last quotient and the resulting remainders in binary form. Then two methods of mutual translation of decimal and binary numbers are described, based on the so-called «Horner scheme». An optimal variant of converting numbers into the binary number system by the method of division by 2 is also given. In conclusion, a fragment of a manuscript from the beginning of the late 16th — early 17th centuries is published with translation into the binary system by the method of highlighting the maximum degree of number 2. Assignments for independent work of students are offered.

Abstract Let $F(x, y)$ be a binary form with integer coefficients, degree $n\geq 3$, and irreducible over the rationals. Suppose that only $s + 1$ of the $n + 1$ coefficients of $F$ are nonzero. We show that the Thue inequality $|F(x,y)|\leq m$ has $\ll s m^{2/n}$ solutions provided that the absolute value of the discriminant $D(F)$ of $F$ is large enough. We also give a new upper bound for the number of solutions of $|F(x,y)|\leq m$, with no restriction on the discriminant of $F$ that depends mainly on $s$ and $m$, and slightly on $n$. Our bound becomes independent of $m$ when $m<|D(F)|^{2/(5(n-1))}$, and also independent of $n$ if $|D(F)|$ is large enough.

Traditional encryption systems and techniques have always been vulnerable to brute force cyber-attacks. This is due to bytes encoding of characters utf8 also known as ASCII characters. Therefore, an opponent who intercepts a cipher text and attempts to decrypt the signal by applying brute force with a faulty pass key can detect some of the decrypted signals by employing a mixture of symbols that are not uniformly dispersed and contain no meaningful significance. Honey encoding technique is suggested to curb this classical authentication weakness by developing cipher-texts that provide correct and evenly dispersed but untrue plaintexts after decryption with a false key. This technique is only suitable for passkeys and PINs. Its adjustment in order to promote the encoding of the texts of natural languages such as electronic mails, records generated by man, still remained an open-end drawback. Prevailing proposed schemes to expand the encryption of natural language messages schedule exposes fragments of the plaintext embedded with coded data, thus they are more prone to cipher text attacks. In this paper, amending honey encoded system is proposed to promote natural language message encryption. The main aim was to create a framework that would encrypt a signal fully in binary form. As an end result, most binary strings semantically generate the right texts to trick an opponent who tries to decipher an error key in the cipher text. The security of the suggested system is assessed..
