We introduce here a novel type of cloaking, based on a circular concentric meta-waguide structure, where the metawaveguides are bent waveguides with porous metasurface walls. In contrast to the cloak implementation reported in~\cite{schurig2006metamaterial}, which only \emph{approximates} the ideally perfect transformation-optics cloak because of prohibitive fabrication complexity, this cloak is designed ab initio for optimal cloaking, and offers therefore largely superior performance. Its combined simplicity and performance arguably makes it the most practical existing cloak reported so far.

In this paper, the mechanism of energy transfer between two bent-bent waveguides is analyzed. Focus is done to the effect that some parameters like the refractive index of the substrate and the wavelength cause in the energy rate transfer between the waveguides. Results were validated by using the Finite Element Method (FEM).

Inverse design procedures aim at determining optimal parameters for a given device in order to satisfy assigned specifications. In this contribution, the design of optimal EBG waveguides through inverse problems tools is addressed. In particular, an inversion tool based on the so called ‘scattering matrices’ is proposed and assessed to optimize the guiding effect for straight and bent waveguides.
