The practices of hazardous and unique facilities’ construction imply that specific attention is paid to the issues of safety. Threats associated with crash impacts caused by moving cars or planes are considered. To ensure safety of these construction sites it is required to know the potential dynamic loads and their destructive capacity. This article considers the methodology of reducing dynamic loads associated with impacts caused by moving collapsing solids and blast loads to equivalent static loads. It is demonstrated that practically used methods of reduction of dynamic loads to static loads are based in schematization only of the positive phase of a dynamic load in a triangle forms are not always correct and true. The historical roots of this approach which is not correct nowadays are shown; such approach considered a detonation explosion as a source of dynamic load, including TNT and even a nuclear weapon. Application of the existing practices of reduction of dynamic load to static load for accidental explosions in the atmosphere that occur in deflagration mode with a significant vacuumization phase may cause crucial distortion of predicted loads for the construction sites. This circumstance may become a matter of specific importance at calculations of potential hazard of impacts and explosions in unique units — for instance, in the nuclear plants. The article considers a situation with a plane crash, the building structure load parameters generated at the impact caused by a plane impact and the following deflagration explosion of fuel vapors are determined.

Abstract  Reflecting on Paul Ricoeur's discussion of historical configuration and fictional emplotment, this article proposes to actualize his model to oppose two prototypes of narrativity, which form two poles between which narrative representations extend. Instead of basing these prototypes on narrative genres such as historiography and fiction, it compares the configuration of narratives designed to inform readers about the signification of a past event with the emplotment of narratives aiming to immerse readers in a simulated past or a fictive storyworld. While contemporary narratology has been mostly concerned with the latter case, we will see that a comparison between narratives belonging to these two poles can help us better understand the functioning of narrative texts, most of them situated between these two extremes. Drawing on stories of a plane crash found in daily newspapers and magazines, the article shows that news stories usually favor the informative function, but when an event cannot be fully told, information enters a process of serialization, leading to the emergence of a “natural” plot. This leads to the conclusion that artificial emplotment is an imitation of prefiguration rather than the triumph of concordance.

For the first two years of the war, the government was extremely reluctant to release information about the atrocities being committed by the Japanese. Officials warned returning civilian internees not to speak to the press about the conditions they had faced as Japanese prisoners. The Office of Censorship applauded the media’s restraint in covering the execution of American airmen captured after the Doolittle raid. And even when Ed Dyess escaped from the Philippines with details about the Bataan death march, senior officials prevented his story from being told. The Chicago Tribune, which paid Dyess $21,000, lobbied hard for a policy change, to no avail. Only after Dyess’s tragic death in a plane crash at the end of 1943, followed by a threat to have a friendly legislator read his story into the Congressional Record, did the government finally lift the veil on this dimension of the Pacific War.

Various disasters that occurred in Indonesia in early 2021 occurred in a row, starting from earthquakes, landslides to floods in various regions in Indonesia, and the National Search and Rescue Agency (BASARNAS) increasing. This research aims to find out the Instagram post @sar_nasional performance of BASARNAS during the disaster that occurred in Indonesia in early 2021. The content analysis method is used as the research method with the unit of analysis in posts on Instagram @sar_nasional from January 1 to January 15, 2021. The conclusion obtained in this study is that the posts on Instagram @sar_nasional lead to more content posts about BASARNAS's performance in the @sar_nasional Instagram post-BASARNAS participation in the Sriwijaya SJ-182 plane crash from Jakarta to Pontianak than the disasters that occurred in several places in Indonesia. Keywords: Content Analysis; Posts; Instagram; Performance; BASARNAS.
