Corrosion leads to huge losses every year, and solving this problem is an important task. One of the effective methods of corrosion protection of equipment and pipelines in the oil industry is the use of corrosion inhibitors. Inhibitory protection is the most technological and effective way to control corrosion of oilfield equipment. The article deals with phosphate corrosion inhibitors of complex action in a carbon dioxide environment. The method of corrosion testing is generally accepted. Quantitative indicators of corrosion processes were calculated using formulas, and the measurement uncertainty was estimated using an algorithm using the Student's coefficient with a confidence probability of 0.95. In the course of the work, potentiometric determination of the pH of corrosive media using a combined glass electrode and an ionomer, conductometric and photocolorimetric determination of the content of iron (III) with potassium rhodanide, as well as methods of infrared spectroscopy and electron microscopy were carried out.

This review article characterizes the green inhibitors applied to control corrosion in metals and maintain the safety and profitability of the production process, since the corrosive phenomenon is insoluble, but can be mitigated with time. For this article, some case studies related to corrosion problems in metals are included, such as the accident in Aloha and the explosion in Guadalajara. Subsequently, the generalities of inhibitors for corrosion control are named, and the physisorption and chemisorption processes are compared. Then, inorganic, organic, synthetic, and green inhibitors are analyzed. The latter seek to replace the synthetic ones, for example, through aloe vera and other plant materials.

Concrete structural properties are compromised largely due to corrosion susceptibility of steel reinforcements. This results in weakening and eventual failure of structures. Several strategies have been employed in past to control corrosion and increase mechanical strength of concretes, in particular for structural applications. In this study, fly ash and polypropylene fibers were utilized as the admixtures for preparation of concrete blocks with variable water-cement (w/c) ratios i.e. 0.45, 0.5 and 0.65. Three different grades of cements were selected in this study namely OPC 43, OPC 53 and sulfate resistant one. Also, two different steel alloys were used i.e. ASTM-615 and ASTM-706, since both of them are very common reinforcement materials (rebars). The curing time of 56 consecutive days was employed before testing and characterization. The results suggest remarkable improvement in the mechanical properties of blocks upon the incorporation of admixtures. However, rebars exhibited highest corrosion rate in the presence of OPC 43 cement at w/c ratio of 0.65.

Flower extract are ecofriendly corrosion inhibitors. They have been used to control corrosion of mild steel, copper and aluminium in various media. The mechanistic aspects have been investigated by electrochemical studies such as polarisaiton study and AC impedance spectra. The protective film has been analysed by FTIR, SEM, EDX and AFM. The adsorption isotherms isotherms being obeyed are Langmuir, Temkin and Freundlich adsorption isotherms. The flowers extract primarily function as mixed type of inhibitors. The active principles mainly present in colored flowers are anthocyanins, and carotenoids. They contain polar groups such as hydroxyl, methoxy and ether. These ingredients coordinate with the metal ions on the metal surface through oxygen atom, benzene ring and conjugated double bonds. The protective film formed on the metal surface controls the corrosion process. Keywords: Corrosion Inhibition; Flower Extract; AFM; SEM; FTIR; Isotherms; Green Inhibitors

AbstractVarious methodologies are practically used to control corrosion. Coatings are the most widely used to protect metals against corrosion. However, due to the weak resistance of polymer coating against the penetration of corrosive solution to the metal/coating interface, the long-term corrosion resistance of the polymer coating is reduced gradually. Recently, nanoparticles have been added to coatings to improve their chemical, mechanical and optical properties. Nanocoatings either have constituents in the nanoscale or are made out of layers that are under 100 nm. Nanocoatings are used effectively to lessen the impact of a corrosive environment due to its various preferences, such as surface hardness, adhesive quality, long haul and, additionally, high-temperature corrosion opposition, and to improve its tribological properties, and so forth. Moreover, nanocoatings can be utilized in more slender and smoother thickness, which permits adaptability in equipment design and lower upkeep and working expenses. This review covers applications related to the management of metal corrosion, including the use of nanomaterials to produce high-performance corrosion inhibitors and corrosion-resistant coatings.
