In this work, we propose a facile method for manufacturing a three-dimensional copper foil-powder sintering current collector (CFSCC) for a silicon-based anode lithium-ion battery. We found that the CFSCC is suitable as a silicon-based paste electrode, and the paste-like electrodes are commonly used in industrial production. Compared with flat current collectors, the CFSCC better constrained the silicon volume change during the charging-discharging process. The capacitance of electrodes with CFSCC remained as high as 92.2% of its second cycle after 40 cycles, whereas that of electrodes with a flat current collector only remained at 50%.

To calculate the equilibrium and stability of finite aspect ratio tokamaks, even for circular and elliptical plasma cross-sections, intricate numerical methods must usually be employed, which require a fast and large computer. So far, these calculations have been carried out analytically only for infinite aspect ratio. In fact certain analytical equilibrium solutions at finite aspect ratio are known, but these do not include such important cases as elliptical cross-sections. In this paper, finite aspect ratio equilibrium solutions are derived for circular, prolate and oblate elliptical cross-sections and for a flat current profile. In addition, the problem of axisymmetric stability is studied for prolate elliptical cross-sections, the approach being almost entirely analytical.

The stability behavior with respect to internal modes is discussed for a class of tokamak equilibria with non-circular cross-sections and essentially flat current profiles. The stability analysis is done by computer both symbolically and numerically with the help of a normal mode code, which extremizes the Lagrangian of the system . It is found that the stability limit agrees well with that of the Mercier criterion. There are stable high-beta equilibria in this model.

Abstract Mercier’s criterion is computed numerically for an exact class of axisymmetric MHD equilibria having possibly elliptical cross sections and a flat current profile. The main result is that the toroidal current density and the plasma beta can be increased by one order of magnitude if a) the eccentricity of the magnetic surfaces, b) the poloidal current, and c) the aspect ratio are adequately chosen, and if the ellipses are vertical.
