The acceptance of tele-robotics and teleoperations through networked control system (NCS) is increasing day-by-day. NCS involves the feedback control loop system wherein the control components such as actuators and sensors are controlled and allowed to share their feedback over real time network with distributed users spread geographically. The performance and surgical complications majorly depend upon time delay, packet dropout and jitter induced in the system. The delay of data packet to the receiving side not only causes instability but also affect the performance of the system. In this article, author designed and simulate the functionality of a model-based Smith predictive controller. The model and randomized error estimations are employed through Markov approach and Kalman techniques. The simulation results show a delay of 49.926ms from master controller to slave controller and 79.497ms of delay from sensor to controller results to a total delay of 129.423ms. This reduced delay improve the surgical accuracy and eliminate the risk factors to criticality of patients’ health.

In a networked control system (NCS), time delays, uncertainties, packet losses, and exogenous disturbances seriously affect the control performance. To solve these problems, a modified disturbance suppression configuration of NCS was built. In the configuration, a proportional–integral observer (PIO) reproduces the state of a plant and reduces the observation error; an equivalent input disturbance (EID) estimator estimates and compensates for the disturbance in the control input channel. The stability conditions of the NCS are given by using a linear matrix inequality, and the gains of the PIO and state feedback controller are obtained. Numerical simulation results and an application of a magnetic levitation ball system verifies the effectiveness of the presented method. Comparison with the conventional PIO and EID methods shows that the presented method reduced the tracking error to about one-fifth and two-thirds of their original values, respectively. This demonstrates the validity and superiority of the presented method.

Abstract This paper proposes a scheme of model predictive control for single-loop networked control system (NCS) with probabilistically modeled communication channel and disturbances. Uncertainties of the communication network are projected onto a tailored probability for the satisfaction of state and input constraints. The proposed receding horizon control scheme uses a probabilistic terminal state and set to establish a balance between control performance and state probability distribution, while satisfying the given constraints. In addition to describing the control approach, its properties are discussed, and it is illustrated by an example.

The Android-based networked control system laboratory (NCSLab) is a remote control laboratory that adopts an extensible architecture, mainly including Android mobile devices, MATLAB servers, controllers and test rigs. In order to conduct various simulations and experiments more effectively in NCSLab, the first key issue that needs to be solved is to enable users to design their own control algorithms or functional blocks on the Android client, rather than just using the basic block libraries provided by the system. So, this paper proposes and implements a scheme for Android-based compilation of C-MEX S-functions. With this new feature, users can design personalized algorithm according to their requirements in the form of S-functions, which can be called and executed after being compiled by MATLAB server. Finally, through the experiment validation of the three-degree-of-freedom air bearing spacecraft platform, it is proved that the method of Android-based C-MEX S-functions is reliable and efficient, and this scheme well enhances the functionality and mobility of Android-based NCSLab.
