The thermal environment and air quality in a passenger car can affect driver's and passengers' health, performance and comfort. Due to spatial and temporal variation of state variables and boundary conditions in the vehicle cabin, the heating, ventilating and air-conditioning (HVAC) does not have to be designed to provide a uniform environment. This are due to individual differences regarding to physiological and psychological response, clothing insulation, activity, air temperature and air movement preference. Experimental study in vehicle HVAC system can be very costly to be conducted. In order to analyze the air flow and temperature distribution in passengers compartment, a numerical simulation was used in this study to analyze the air flow and temperature distribution of HVAC unit inside Proton Exora passengers compartment, with the air blower speed and air temperature used as parameter, to evaluate the airflow behavior and temperature distribution in the compartment. The simulation data obtained is then compared to the experimental data, showing good agreement between these two methods.

In an internal combustion engine, performance, efficiency and emission formation depends on the formation of air-fuel mixture inside the engine cylinder. The fluid flow dynamics plays an important role for air-fuel mixture preparation to obtain the better engine combustion, performance and efficiency. This review article discuss the rotating flow (swirl and tumble) in premixed spark-ignition engine and its effect on turbulence generation and flame propagation. Rotating flow can substantially increase turbulence intensity for the duration of the combustion period. This review paper discusses the in-cylinder swirl and tumble flow that affects air induction during the combustion process in internal combustion engine. Alternatively, this study using computer simulation (Computational Fluid Dynamic, CFD) which offer the opportunity to carry out repetitive parameter studies. An integration-type flowmeter (IFM) also has been used which consists of ultrasonic flowmeter, that integrates the flowrate during the intake process, gives accurate measurements regardless of sampling time and frequency. Research parameter in this study was swirl and tumble that represents the fluid flow behavior occurred inside combustion chamber. Fuel injection and air mass also were the important parameters that have been discussed about in air induction process. The results obtain from the numerical analysis can be employed to examine the homogeneity of air-fuel mixture structure for better combustion process and engine performance.

Additive manufacturing (AM) is known as the technology which enable using a layer wise in fabrication of a complex part directly from CAD files without using any specific tooling. This manufacturing techniques offers many strategic advantages which include design freedom for the build of complex part geometries which cannot be made in other way, the ability to build functional part in a small size for the end user customization and its ability to do improvement for the expensive part in aerospace and other industries. The aim of this research is to study the effect of process parameter such as layer thickness, infill density and object orientation to the accuracy of printed part measurement with CAD model, surface roughness and mechanical strength of PLA and ABS material. Therefore, it is important to find the optimum value of dimensional accuracy, surface roughness and mechanical strength for both materials. To achieve the optimum value of dimensional accuracy, surface roughness and mechanical strength for both materials, Taguchi method L4 orthogonal array is used to conduct this experiment and Minitab 18 software will analyze the result and shows the best optimum value. The result from ANOVA analysis shows that object orientation gives highest contribution to the dimensional accuracy and surface roughness for both materials. Meanwhile, for mechanical strength layer thickness highly contributed to the ABS material and object orientation for the PLA material. A Car Backseat Headrest Hanger/Hook model is fabricated by the best optimal combination and level of process parameter of mechanical strength.
