Abstract: Despite not being recognised by the literary critics as an erotic writer, Marcel Prévost frequently invokes the heightening of passionate love and the scenes which depict it. In many of them, the bed was the nexus of that ars amatoria, created or contained, around which Bourgeois ladies sifted their existence within the social circle they inhabited. This paper examines in depth the meanings of the bed, from a sacrosanct marital space to a clandestine mise-en-scene to consummate adulterous liaisons, approaching this piece of furniture, created for sleep and dreams, as a dual physical representation of freedom and subjection between individuals.

Abstract: This work aims to propose a holistic multimodal approach for making critical reading about racism in the written press. In order to achieve this, and taking account the Multimodal Critical Discourse Analysis, we use as theoretical and methodological integrative strategies the contributions of Teresa Velázquez and her discursive-semiotic approach (2011), van Dijk’s sociocognitive approach (1990, 1997a, 2003a, 2003b), Kress and van Leeuwen’s visual semiotics approach (1996), and Nikolakeva and Scott’s intersemiotic approach (2001). The analysis matrices are validated using the so-called mapuche conflict in Chile in order to be able to draw conclusive results and conclusions about media representations of ethnic minorities.

Abstract: The relationship between mythology and science fiction is paradoxical: if, theoretically, science fiction is presented as the opposite of myth; in its narrative production, science fiction frequently resorts to mythical characters and schemes, materializing their prospective dimension through the evemerist or allegorical updating of myths. This work critically reviews the theoretical assumptions that divide science fiction literature from mythical stories and fantasy fiction. Next, it analyzes the way in which James G. Ballard addresses this question in his short narrative, particularly in Myths of the Near Future, which goes beyond these differences and raises a new common theoretical framework between fantasy and mythical literature and science fiction.

Abstract: This paper proposes a textual analysis of Loro (Paolo Sorrentino, 2018). To do so, we will use a methodology based on the contributions of the semiology of cinema, especially with regard to both the significant processes of form and the deployment of intertexts that give thickness to Sorrentino’s writing. Our aim is to show that behind the apparent relationship with the stilems of the “postmodern image” —the disproportion, the seriality, the citation...—, it is possible to highlight an ethical programme that responds to the contemporary challenges of the relations between truth, representation and politics.

Abstract: In the literary theory on autobiographical writing and autofiction, there has been a certain degree of confusion in the use of labels; only recently, a clear distinction has been drawn between them both. This article aims to establish a path of evolution for the dichotomy autobiography / autofiction. I will start from the origins of autofiction, will later analyse the evolution of the theoretical debate, and will finally focus on the latest relevant publications. Therefore, the article will make known new ideas, still little discussed in the Hispanic sphere, which develop and extend the approaches of authors based in this field of study.
