Based on the shear performance of existing reinforced concrete beam oblique section and referring to the slipping theory of bending crack of the beam, a formula of the diagonal crack width is proposed through the equilibrium condition, the geometric condition and the concrete failure criteria. This formula has explicitly and clearly the physical concept. So,it can be used to check the maximum diagonal crack width of RC beam in the design.

In this study, to evaluate the bending performance and the shear performance of Aramid Fiber Plate Strip with enhanced attachment, 8 specimens were made for experiment. Most flexural failure specimens showed AFPS rip-off failure or separation failure. In the shear failure specimens, the specimens showed a brittle failure in which the concrete compression edge was broken. Compared with the control beam, the maximum ultimate strength increased by 164~193% for the flexural failure specimen, and by 218~259% for the shear failure specimen. The ductility, however, decreased steeply in the shear-failure specimen as the amount of reinforcement grew.

Several standard fatigue testing methods are used to determine the fatigue stress-life prediction model (S-N curve) and the endurance limit of Reinforced Concrete (RC) beams, including the application of constant cyclic tension-tension loads at different stress or strain ranges. The standard fatigue testing methods are time-consuming and expensive to perform, as a large number of specimens is needed to obtain valid results. The purpose of this paper is to examine a fatigue stress-life predication model of RC beams that are developed with an accelerated fatigue approach. This approach is based on the hypothesis of linear accumulative damage of the Palmgren–Miner rule, whereby the applied cyclic load range is linearly increased with respect to the number of cycles until the specimen fails. A three-dimensional RC beam was modeled and validated using ANSYS software. Numerical simulations were performed for the RC beam under linearly increased cyclic loading with different initial loading conditions. A fatigue stress-life model was developed that was based on the analyzed data of three specimens. The accelerated fatigue approach has a higher rate of damage accumulations than the standard testing approach. All of the analyzed specimens failed due to an unstable cracking of concrete. The developed fatigue stress-life model fits the upper 95% prediction band of RC beams that were tested under constant amplitude cyclic loading.

This paper studies the shear performance of the connection with the external stiffening ring between the square steel tubular column and unequal-depth steel beams. Two specimens of interior column connections were tested under low cyclic loading. The deformation characteristics and failure modes exhibited by the test phenomena can be summarized as: (1) two specimens all exhibited shear deformation in steel tube web of the panel zone and (2) weld fracture in the panel zone and plastic hinge failure at beam end were observed. Besides, load-displacement behaviors and strain distributions have been also discussed. The nonlinear finite element models were developed to verify the test results. Comparative analyses of the bearing capacity, failure mode, and load-paths between the equal-depth and unequal-depth beam models have been carried out.
