This work presents the use of a three-element radiating structure for circularly polarized Low-Power Wide Area Network (LP-WAN) communication with space. The proposed structure has a 72 mm × 72 mm × 12 mm compact size with Right-Handed Circular Polarization (RHCP) and a 120∘ wide beamwidth radiation pattern. Printed on low-cost FR4 Epoxy substrate, a feeding network circuit based on Quasi Lumped Quadrature Coupler (QLQC), it achieves a −0.6 dB insertion loss and a very compact size. The final structure has a 69% total efficiency and a 3.14 dBic realized gain.

An equalizer based on multilayered half mode substrate integrated waveguide (HMSIW) structures with highQ-factor, low loss, and compact size is proposed for the first time. Resonant cavities distributing in the upper substrate and the bottom substrate, with the middle substrate layer which works as the transmission line together, constitute a multilayer structure. The design method and theoretical analysis are summarized first. The mode analysis, simulated results, and measured results are all provided. The measured results show a good performance and are in agreement with the simulated results, and the maximum attenuation slope reaches −16 dB over 12.5 GHz~14.5 GHz. With the use of absorbing pillars, the attenuation andQvalue can be tuned more easily than the other planar equalizers. Compared with the SIW equalizer, the size of this structure reduces by 50%. Furthermore, this structure is suitable for the miniaturization development of equalizers.

A compact circularly polarized antenna operating at 915 MHz industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) band for biomedical implantable applications is presented and experimentally measured. The proposed antenna can be miniaturized to a large extent with the compact size of 15 × 15 × 1.27 mm3 by means of loading patches to a ring-shaped microstrip patch antenna. An impedance bandwidth of 10.6% (865–962 MHz) for reflection coefficient less than −10 dB can be obtained. Meanwhile, the simulated 3 dB axial-ratio (AR) bandwidth reaches 14 MHz. Finally, the optimized design was fabricated and tested, and the measured results agree well with simulated results.
