As a case study of the introduction of efficient and effective teaching materials and methods that enhance students' technological literacy in different areas despite the relative lack of classroom hours devoted to technology education in Japanese junior high schools, a front-loaded horn speaker system was proposed as a component of multipurpose teaching materials and methods integrating several areas. Following the development of teaching materials and lesson plans, their effectiveness was evaluated through implementation. Acoustic measurements showed that the horn speaker provided high efficiency in the midrange. Moreover, the results of a post-lesson questionnaire administered to junior high school indicated that the speaker system was highly effective as teaching material. It was therefore concluded that the new design enhanced not only student interest but also their technological literacy, as they demonstrated an understanding of the acoustic mechanism and high satisfaction with their final products.

This paper summarized the present situation and problems of technology education in Japan, particularly focused on technology education in general education. It was shown that technology education was carried out for a variety of purposes depending on grade and age. On the other hand, it was shown that technology education as general education is limited to the "Technology" of junior high school "Technology & Home Economics". The study of "Technology" in junior high school covered the basic elements of engineering. In addition, "Technology" was placed on the roles of character formation as well as academic achievement. This paper also discussed the problems related to technology education in general education in Japan in light of international comparisons and the present situation. It was shown that the amount of time dedicated to technology education in Japan was extremely small by international standards.

This research is motivated by the lack of mathematics teaching materials that can make students learn on their own. The teaching material can be created by teachers as they are the ones who possess the knowledge about their students’ characteristics. Further, learning materials are a set of materials (information, tools, or texts) that can aid teachers and students to carry out the learning process. The two-variable linear equation system (SPLDV) is one of the mathematics materials taught to eighth-grade students of junior high school; it contains problems related to daily life. However, it is found that this material is still difficult to master by most students. Therefore, it is necessary to develop the SPLDV teaching materials that can help students learn and solve problems as well as be used as examples by teachers in developing other materials. This research aimed to make problem-based SPLDV teaching materials. The research method refers to the Four-D Model by Thiagarajan, Semmel, and Semmel (1974). It consisted of defining, designing, developing, and disseminating. The results showed that problem-based SPLDV teaching materials could be used in learning activities as the students and the teachers had shown their positive responses after going through expert assessments. This study also suggested that the teachers use this teaching material and adopt teaching materials for other similar materials.

The development of a teaching material must be based on the analysis of student needs. Development of teaching materials have to be able to answer or solve problems or difficulties in learning. This study aims to know the development of writing folk poetry teaching material according to the materials expert team with copy the master technique for seventh grade student of junior high school 1 Rantau Selatan, in Labuhan Batu District. This study was conducted by using Probability Sampling technique. The result shows that all teachers and students need modules in the learning process. Teaching material products developed in folk poetry writing materials with copy the master learning technique for seventh grade students of junior high school 1 Rantau Selatan meet the requirements and are appropriate to use based on the validation of material experts and design experts.
