THE INFLUENCE OF LEARNING STYLE ON ACHIEVEMENT THROUGH MOTIVATION AS A MODERATOR VARIABLE

The aim of the research is to describe and analyse: (1) to know how the students’ motivation, learning style and achievement are. (2) To know how far (a) the influence of motivation on achievement, (b) the influence of learning style on achievement, and (c) the influence of learning style on motivation. And (3) to find out whether there is any significance influence of learning style on achievement through motivation as a moderator variable. This research used quantitative approach as the research design. This research used 113 students as samples, who are selected randomly from a population of 334 seventh grade student of UPTD SMPN 02 Ngadiluwih Kediri. Meanwhile, the instrument used to collect data is a questionnaire. The result showed that: (1) the achievement is a low category, the motivation is a high category and the learning style is a low category. (2) (a) there is a significance influence of motivation on achievement. (b) There is a significance influence of learning style on their achievement. And (c) there is a significance influence of learning style on motivation. (3) There is not significance influence of learning style on their students’ achievement through motivation as a moderator variable.

IMPROVING STUDENTS’ MOTIVATION IN STUDYING ENGLISH USING AUDIO-LINGUAL METHOD

This research is based on the students’ motivation in studying English. It intends to prove that students can improve their motivation and it is seen in their achievement in their study. The purpose of this research is to prove that this method is effective in order to improve students’ motivation to learn English. This research is conducted at SMP Negeri 11 Bitung. The subject of this research is a seventh-grade student of SMP Negeri 11 Bitung consisted of 24 students. The design of this research is a pre-experimental design with one group pre-test and post-test design. The data are collected through multiple choice as an instrument and with questionnaires and interviews to support the data. In analyzing the data writers use percentage formula. The result of this research shows that the score of the post-test is higher (72.09%) than the score of the pre-test (44.16%). Based on the fact of the result of this research, it can be concluded that the Audio-lingual method is effective to be applied in class to improve students’ motivation in studying English. Penerapan Metode Al-Hira’ Dalam Meningkatkan Kemampuan Membaca Al-Qur’an Siswa pada Mata Pelajaran Al-Qur’an Hadis di Kelas VII MTs Babussalam Besilam

This study using Al-Hira method to find out and improve seventh grade’s student ability in reading Qur’an especially at MTS Babussalam, Besilam. The subject of this study were 38 of the seventh grade’s student of mts Babussalam Besilam. The aim of this study is to know and increase the student ability in read Qur’an using Al-Hira method. Before Applying Al-Hira method the student ability in read Qur’an still categorized as underprivileged, such as unable to recognize hijaiyah and cannot connect the words of hijaiyah letters. The result was taken from interviews, observations, and student pretest. Sixteen students was pass the test with 42,10% of classical completeness and twenty two student wasn’t pass the test with 57,89% of classical completeness, with 64,73% of average. This research is a classroom action research (CAR) with two cycles. The data was collected by test method and observation in the end of the cycle to find out the improvement of student ability in reading Qur’an using Al-Hira method. After collected and analized the data, twenty four student (63.15%) was pass the test and fourteen student (36.84%) wasn’t pass the test with 73,68% of average in cycle 1. Thirty two student was pass with 84,21% classical completeness. It’s shows, there is 20.78% of classical improvement. Based on the result, it can be conclude that the application of Al-Hira method can improve student ability of reading Qur’an at Al-Qur’an Hadist Subject in seventh grade student of MTS Babussalam, Besilam.

KOMPARASI KETERAMPILAN MENULIS TEKS LAPORAN HASIL OBSERVASI DENGAN KETERAMPILAN MENULIS TEKS CERITA FANTASI SISWA KELAS VII SMP NEGERI 22 PADANG

ABSTRACTThe purpose of this research was to describe things as follow. First, it describes the writing skills of the report text of observations of grade VII junior high school 22 Padang. Secondly, it describes the writing skills of fantasy text for VII grade students of junior high school 22 Padang. Third, analyze the comparasion between the writing skills of the observation report text and the fantasy story writing skills of the seventh grade student. This type of research is quantitative research with descriptive analysis. Based on the result of the study, the following three things were concluded. First, the writing skills of the report text of observations of grade VII students of junior high school are in good qualifications (82,82). Secondly, the skills to write fantasy text for seventh grade student of junior high school 22 Padang are in good qualifications (80,66). Third, there is a significant difference between the writing skills of observations report text and the fantasy story writing skills of grade VII students of junior high school 22 Padang, so it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted because the test results prove that the count is greater then the table 11,25>1,68. The Development of Writing Folk Poetry Teaching Material According to the Materials Expert Team with Copy the Master Technique for Seventh Grade Student of Junior High School 1 Rantau Selatan, In Labuhan Batu District, Indonesia

The development of a teaching material must be based on the analysis of student needs. Development of teaching materials have to be able to answer or solve problems or difficulties in learning. This study aims to know the development of writing folk poetry teaching material according to the materials expert team with copy the master technique for seventh grade student of junior high school 1 Rantau Selatan, in Labuhan Batu District. This study was conducted by using Probability Sampling technique. The result shows that all teachers and students need modules in the learning process. Teaching material products developed in folk poetry writing materials with copy the master learning technique for seventh grade students of junior high school 1 Rantau Selatan meet the requirements and are appropriate to use based on the validation of material experts and design experts.

The Effectiveness of Using Picture to Improve Students' Reading Skill at seventh-Grade Student of SMP Negeri 8 Seluma

This study aimed to find out empirical data, to see using picture strategy effective in improving students’ reading skill at seventh-grade student of SMP Negeri 8 Seluma. The sample of this study was 62 students taken from the first grade of SMP Negeri 8 Seluma, the students were 31 students of VII-A, as experiment class and 31 students from VII-B, as control class. The method which was used in this study was a quantitative method and the design used in this study was an experiment design. The data collected in this research were analyzed by using t-test. According to the result of statistical calculation, the obtained value of (t-observation) is 2.67 and the value of “tt” (t table) from the df (60) on the degree of significance of 5% is 2.01. Comparing to the with each value of the degree of significance, the writer finds 2.67 > 2.04. So too is higher than tt or to > tt. The finding of this study it can be concluded that using the picture in teaching reading skill is quite a success by using Picture. It is not only effective to lead students to feel more interesting and enjoy doing activity in the class but also it can give the students the opportunities to be active in teaching a Reading skill.
