Chitosan-aluminum oxide nanocomposite was synthesized, characterized, and used as a green heterogeneous catalyst to synthesize novel imidazopyrazolylthione derivatives. Nanocomposite polymeric material was characterized by EDS-SEM and XRD. The powerful catalytic activity, and its base character of the nanocomposite, was used to synthesize imidazopyrazolylthione (1) in a good yield compared to traditional cyclocondensation synthesis. Using the nanocomposite catalyst, substitution of the thiol group (1) afforded the corresponding thiourea (2) and the corresponding ester (3). The efficiency of the nanocomposite over the traditional base organic catalyst, Et3N and NaOH, makes it an effective, economic, and reproducible nontoxic catalyst. Moreover, the heterogeneous nanocomposite polymeric film was easily isolated from the reaction medium, and recycled up to four times, without a significant loss of its catalytic activity. The newly synthesized derivatives were screened as antibacterial agents and showed high potency. Molecular docking was also performed for a more in-depth investigation. The results of the docking studies have demonstrated that the docked compounds have strong interaction energies with both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

Forty four isolates of Phomopsis vexans from different eggplant cultivars collected from core eggplant growing regions of Bangladesh which were characterized using mycological characteristics. Variation exists among the isolates of Phomopsis vexans of Bangladesh covering two types of farm having two ecosystems and the isolates were grouped into five distinct groups based on their cultural properties. The highest sized ? conidia were observed in group -1 and the lowest size in-group -2. The highest sized ? conidia were recorded in group -5 and the lowest in-group –2. The highest pycnidial size noted in-group -3 and the smallest sized pycnidia were recorded in group –1. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/jsf.v8i1-2.14635 J. Sci. Sterically bulky β-diketiminate (or Nacnac) ligand systems have recently shown the ability to kinetically stabilize highly reactive low-oxidation state main group complexes. Metal halide precursors to such systems can be formed via salt metathesis reactions involving alkali metal complexes of these large ligand frameworks. Herein, we report the synthesis and characterization of lithium and potassium complexes of the super bulky anionic β-diketiminate ligands, known [TCHPNacnac]− and new [TCHP/DipNacnac]− (ArNacnac = [(ArNCMe)2CH]−) (Ar = 2,4,6-tricyclohexylphenyl (TCHP) or 2,6-diisopropylphenyl (Dip)). The reaction of the proteo-ligands, ArNacnacH, with nBuLi give the lithium etherate compounds, [(TCHPNacnac)Li(OEt2)] and [(TCHP/DipNacnac)Li(OEt2)], which were isolated and characterized by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. The unsolvated potassium salts, [{K(TCHPNacnac)}2] and [{K(TCHP/DipNacnac)}∞], were also synthesized and characterized in solution by NMR spectroscopy. In the solid state, these highly reactive potassium complexes exhibit differing alkali metal coordination modes, depending on the ligand involved. These group 1 complexes have potential as reagents for the transfer of the bulky ligand fragments to metal halides, and for the subsequent stabilization of low-oxidation state metal complexes.

Cefoxitin resistance in Klebsiella pneumoniae from Escherichia coli strains isolated in Greek hospitals was found to be due to the acquisition of similar plasmids coding for group 1 beta-lactamases. The plasmids were not self-transferable but were mobilized by conjugative plasmids. These elements have also been spread to Enterobacter aerogenes. The most common enzyme was a Citrobacter freundii-derived cephalosporinase (LAT-2) which differed from LAT-1 by three amino acids.
