Purpose Business process modeling has been given great attention due to its crucial role in developing computer-based systems that support (and automate) organizational processes. In information systems, building the right process architecture is vital, since a poor division of organizational processes can lead to complex designs or incoherent structure. Moreover, process architecture acts as a “big picture” of what the organization does, and represents dynamic relationships between the existing processes, which, in turn, helps understand how the organization works (Ould, 2005). The paper aims to discuss these issues. Design/methodology/approach This paper discusses the derivation of a process architecture diagram (PAD) using the Riva method in detail, in contrast to the PAD developed using Architecture of Integrated Information Systems (ARIS). The information system selected as an example for this comparative study is in the context of academic libraries, embedding various yet generic library processes. Findings Organizational process architecture provides a basis for business management, based on specific framework supported by integrated tools and methods (Kozina, 2006). ARIS and Riva process architecture methods can be used to visualize and document organizational processes. Understanding the merits and weaknesses of each method is essential to identify possible areas of application. Research limitations/implications The processes selected were generic in most academic libraries not taking into consideration special personalized processes. These can be added though. Practical implications Both techniques are feasible and can be used to view and analyze library processes, allowing bridging the gap between theory and practice. Originality/value A number of process architecture methods are available, however, few studies focused on assessing these methods, and comparing some of them to find out how easy they are to be used in particular contexts, and whether they can be standardized.

Typically, cancer treatment involves surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy. Owing to the extremely high price of medicine and treatment along with cytotoxicity of medication, cancer treatment warrants extraordinary care in treating cancer patients. Oncology information systems (OIS) provide an all-in-one solution for such problems. The OIS can integrate different treatment protocols and update change in dose and treatment in real time.

<p>With the current explosion of Information Systems, the market offers a wide range of interesting technological solutions. Yet, this does not mean adopting a technology without considering its impact on the existing information system and user expectations. It is recommended to identify and implement the technological solutions most suited to the Information Systems strategy. Therefore, new methods are emerging and design tools are still evolving; the PHP Frameworks are part of it, which open up new perspectives in terms of information system enrichment. In this context, this paper focuses on the elaboration of a comparative study between Laravel, symfony framworks, which are the most popular PHP frameworks.  Thus, it provides an effective comparison model that merges seven dimensions: Features, Multilingual, System requirements, Technical architecture, Code Organization, Continuous Integration (CI) and finally Documentation and learning curve dimension. Results show that our model can be beneficial for IT project developers to select the suitable PHP Framework.</p><p> </p>

Contemporary organizations have faced the growing management of cartographic documentation, some of them of heritage interest. There are numerous institutions that are digitizing, georeferencing and publishing their historical cartography. The motivation of this research is to facilitate the choice of the most appropriate software to perform these tasks. This article carries out the critical review and analysis of four Geographic Information Systems (GIS) of full significance today. After systematizing the general characteristics and modules that must satisfy this type of application, we proceed to the detailed evaluation of the selected Geographic Information Systems, reaching as a result the discussion of the advantages that each one of them provides, of their distinctive characteristics, as well as their professional adequacy.
