Background: Obstruction of nose due to enlargement of inferior turbinate is a very common problem faced by ENT surgeon. In thisstudy a usefultechnique for treatment of inferior turbinate hypertrophy is described. Objective:To determine the surgical outcome and complications ofthe two surgicalprocedures.Material and Methods: This non-randomized comparative study was performed in the Department of ENT, HNS, MTI/LRH,Peshawar, Pakistan, from June 01, 2017 to May 31, 2018. After ethical approval, sample size of 112 was calculated and patientsincluded of both genders fulfilling inclusion criteria. After taking consent patients were equally divided into two groups with nonrandom number table method. Both subjective and objective assessment was carried out and observations were recorded on apredesignedproforma.Data were analyzed using SPSS 20.Results: Total patients were 112,in age range from 16 to 50 years. There were 56(50%) patients in each group.Maleswere 71 andfemale 41withmale to female ratio of 1.7:1 and mean age was 32.92+S.D 10.29 years.Relief from nasal obstruction obtained was94.64% and 92.86% in Group A and B respectively. Headachewas relived 83.34 % and 88.38% in Group A and B respectively. Thecomplications experienced were post operative bleeding, adhesion formation and crusting 2.6%, 3.5% and 1.78% respectively.Statistics showed no significant difference between the two operations (p >0.05).Conclusion: Both trimming and outer displacement of hypertrophied inferior turbinate are effective procedures for relief of nasalobstruction but there was no significant difference betweenthe two techniques interm of outcome and complications. Keywords:Inferiorturbinate, Hypertrophy, Trimming, Outer displacement. To the widespread use of wireless technologies, increased portable mobile devices and communication contributes to stimulate and encourage group sharing among instructors and students in the learning environments. Apt applications to boost old   face-to-face teaching were examined, which are SMS, Facebook and Google Spreadsheets. A research was used to actual analyze the influence on their interests. It took place over a period of 14 weeks, and the sample consisted of 42 students   in Information Technology for Social Network class. Three groups were involved, control (only supported by Google Spreadsheets), the first group (supported by Google Spreadsheets and SMS), and the second group (supported by Google Spreadsheets and Facebook). The effect of the applications, the results of subjective (attention, relevance, confidence, satisfaction and social ability) and objective assessment (engagement and academic performance) were compared among the three groups,  and by  using Google Spreadsheets  with SMS, and with Facebook were effective in improving their motivation. Notable difference in overall was, students preferred Google spreadsheets with SMS, where it enhanced their motivation when merge into learning.

Transient intrinsic optical signal (IOS) has been observed in stimulus-evoked retinal photoreceptors. This study is to compare IOS changes in wild-type and retinal degeneration 10 (rd10) mouse retinas, to evaluate the effect of cyclic guanosine monophosphate phosphodiesterase on photoreceptor-IOS. Time-lapse near-infrared light microscopy was employed to monitor the spatiotemporal dynamics of the IOS responses in freshly isolated retinas activated by visible light stimulation. Comparative IOS recordings were conducted at postnatal days 14 (P14) and P16. At P14, intrinsic optical signal magnitudes and spatiotemporal dynamics in wild-type and rd10 retinas were similar, indicating that the phosphodiesterase deficiency in rd10 did not affect the formation of photoreceptor-IOS. At P16, IOS magnitude in rd10 significantly decreased compared to that in wild-type, suggesting the IOS sensitivity to the photoreceptor degeneration in rd10. Our experimental results and theoretical analysis indicate that early disc-based stages of the phototransduction cascade before the activation of phosphodiesterase may contribute to the formation of the photoreceptor-IOS responses; and the IOS can be a sensitive biomarker for objective assessment of retinal function. Impact statement Comparative study of wild-type and rd10 mice was implemented to reveal that transient intrinsic optical signal (IOS) was initiated before the phosphodiesterase activation in stimulus-activated photoreceptors and the IOS magnitude was sensitive to photoreceptor degeneration. The photoreceptor-IOS promises a noninvasive biomarker for objective assessment of age-related macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa, and other eye diseases that can produce photoreceptor dysfunctions.

Early identification and diagnosis of hearing loss in infants and young children is the first step toward appropriate and effective intervention and is critical for optimal communicative and psychosocial development. Limitations of behavioral assessment techniques in pediatric populations necessitate the use of an objective test battery to enable complete and accurate assessment of auditory function. Since the introduction of the cross-check principle 35 years ago, the pediatric diagnostic test battery has expanded to include, in addition to behavioral audiometry, acoustic immittance measures, otoacoustic emissions, and multiple auditory evoked responses (auditory brainstem response, auditory steady state response, and electrocochleography). We offer a concise description of a modern evidence-based audiological test battery that permits early and accurate diagnosis of auditory dysfunction.
