Two processes are distinguished: globalization and free trade. The objectivity of the globalization process is substantiated. Classification of forms of integration is given. It is pointed out that the version of the process of globalization depends on the subject of its implementation and the concept (idea) on which this option is based. The systemic crisis that has engulfed all of humanity proves the perniciousness and deadlock of the further realization of integration processes on the basis of mondialism. The necessity of forming control systems based on the integration of national states is argued. A review of possible options for integration in the post-Soviet space is being made. The arguments about the mission of Russia as a leader in the integration processes in the post-Soviet space and on a global scale are presented.

We suggest that a new type of information system appears to be increasing in importance, that of consumer information systems. Compared with traditional information systems development approaches, where the focus is on improving the efficiency and effectiveness of organizational processes, design for consumer information systems focuses more on the enjoyment, pleasure and purchases of the consumer. We argue that the shift in focus from users to consumers in consumer information systems calls for a significant re-appraisal of our current information systems development methods. Hence, this chapter proposes a new research agenda for IS researchers focusing on the development of consumer information systems. The expected contributions include new insights into effective management processes for service design, a better understanding of issues of integration of information systems development practices used to develop consumer information systems, and the development of methods for requirements discovery for service innovation.

Successful software systems development is a delicate balance among several distinct factors (Jalote, 2002) such as enabling people to grow professionally; documenting processes representing the gained experiences and knowledge of the organization members; using know how to apply the suitable processes to similar circumstances; and refining processes based on achieved experience. Software projects have two main dimensions: engineering and project management. The engineering dimension concerns the construction of a system, and focuses mainly on issues such as how to build a system. The project management dimension is in charge with properly planning and controlling the engineering activities to meet project goals for optimal cost, schedule, and quality. For a project, the engineering processes specify how to perform activities such as requirement specification, design, testing, and so on. The project management processes, on the other hand, specify how to set milestones, organize personnel, manage risks, monitor progress, and so on (Jalote, 2002). A software process may be defined as “a set of activities, methods, practices, and transformations that people use to develop and maintain software, and the associated products and artifacts.”1 This is pictorially depicted in Figure 1 (Donaldson & Siegel, 2000).
