The study is based on the determination of the kinetic rates and assessment of self-purification of the Frio River, due to the uptake of organic load. The kinetic rates were calculated by applying differential and logarithmic methods on concentrations of water quality determinants present in each of the (7) reach of the river. The water system easily recovers the amount of oxygen, kd= 0.4, ka 3.2 d-1, only receives 27.7 Ton. d-1, the organic load, making high concentrations of carbon, ammonium and remain sediment. The length Influence of discharges, LIV- BOD yielded a mean per tranche of 10 km, compared to 3 km each way, means that the river can´t self- purification that need more length of travel. The study illustrates the modeling of the determinants of quality, developed by the QUAL2K, using the calculated rates.

The water pollution is first of all a consequence of the lack of prevention and also inertia of public interest initiatives, often being claimed technical and economical difficulties. The aim of this paper is to present the results of monitoring the water quality from a mountain river. The analysis was carried on within the Laboratory of the Monitoring of Environmental Quality from the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj - Napoca, during April - June 2013. Temperature recorded values between 16 -210C pH,  6.5 - 6.9, conductivity 70.2 µS/cm - 72,8 µS/cm, turbidity 0.05 - 0,16 NTU, dissolved oxygen 10.01 -9.10 mg/L. All monitored parameters that are the basis of identification of the water quality indices, during monitored time interval, April 1st - June 26th 2013 framed within normal admitted limits, which demonstrate the lack of pollution of this river segment.

Special features of the channel water balances method application for the runoff accounting reliability analysis at the rivers with complicated hydro/morphological regime (a mountain river with the wide floodplain and a multi/armed channel) have been discussed. The individual balance components contribution has been assessed. Assessments of the runoff hydrometric accounting inaccuracies have been obtained for the Samur River and its tributaries’ ranges. The channel water balances calculation outcomes for various time spans (daily, decade, monthly, and annual) have been listed. When analyzing a many-year observation series results for the Samur River runoff at the range between Akhta and Usukhchay hydrological stations numerous runoff discrepancies (losses) have been revealed. Suppositions on the possible causes of the runoff portions’ loss at the approaching to the closure range have been formulated. The method has been recommended provided the accounting of the possibly complete set of the balance input and output components.

The factors that provoke fish suffocation in an estuary, namely: natural (small river runoff, high air and water temperature, water stratification) and anthropogenic (regulation of river, etc.) were marked. Taking into account these factors the calculations were carried out and the possible areas of the Dnieper-Bug estuary, where fish kill of different scale and genesis is found out were identified.

The article analyzes the water quality of surface water bodies (on the example of rivers of the Dnieper basin) by the method of main components, identifies and interprets the main factors that form long-term variability of water quality of surface water bodies and make different contributions to the total variance. The research was carried out according to the samples of control water intake of the Dnieper River within the Basin Water Resources Management at 12 posts, for the period from 2011 to 2020. The leading factors were identified: plant and animal organisms (12…39 %), leaching of Fe- and Cu-containing minerals (10…29 %). The article shows that in the formation of the chemical composition of the water of the rivers of the studied region is determined by the factor of ion from the rocks on which the formation of the catchment. A factor characterizing the local conditions of river runoff formation has been identified - the process of groundwater discharge, which is manifested in changes in the concentrations of silicon and nitrates. In addition, a negative dependence of changes in the content of silicon ions and nitrates on temperature. The originality of the study is based on an integrated approach, which includes research based on available data in the State Agency of Water Resources of Ukraine, which takes into account the principles of biodiversity conservation, sustainable use of water resources, river management and basins, monitoring and evaluation of their status. In the future, the proposed approach may be the subject of research in the direction of establishing factors that characterize the local conditions of formation of river runoff, including taking into account the man-made load on it.

Results of the Cherek-Bezengiysky River water chemical composition monitoring within the boundaries of Kabardino-Balkaria State High-mountain Nature Reserve are presented. As a result of the conducted research some regularities in space/time variability of the water quality indicators have been found out.
