Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are industrial sectors that are very important to sustain the economy of Jepara Regency. There are 18,695 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Jepara Regency in 2016, including wood carving, troso weaving, chopper brass (monel) jewelry, sculpture, rattan crafts, calligraphy, and reliefs. The number of SMEs in Jepara makes buyers or tourists have many choices in buying products of varying quality and competitive prices. In addition, sometimes they are also confused in finding the location of SMEs. Therefore, this application is made to solve these problems by making an application that provides location-based information center industrial services. This application is expected to facilitate tourists in finding the location of the industry to be addressed. Geolocation technology is used to identify real-world geographic locations that can be applied to the Android operating system. So this application provides store description services, product photos, and maps. SMEs are presented in the application in the map using the k-mean algorithm. The parameters used are the type of industry, number of employees, turnover per year, tools used. For the clustering have 3 categories, there are namely small, medium and large. The advantages of this algorithm can group data according to the similarity of data used in one group and minimize the same data between groups and cannot process data that is a missing value.

‘Industrial application of Internet of Things deals with the application of Internet of things to produce industrial services. It analyzed how industries can carry out multiple services with function remotely using IoT-connected devices. The several benefits and drawbacks to the application of IoT services were also investigated. The IoT is a network of connected systems and smart devices that use encoded networks like sensors, processors, and interactive hardware to receive, send and store data. The utilization of IoT for industrial functions will significantly improve industrial output, and in the future, more industries will come to apply IoT devices and systems for greater efficiency.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to better understand the efficient use of remote monitoring systems (RMS) to create business value for industrial services in manufacturing firms. A business view to RMS is a key prerequisite for the successful application of the Internet of Things (IoT) in industrial services. Design/methodology/approach A qualitative multiple-case study was conducted in six engineering companies. The main source of data was semi-structured interviews with 16 managers. Findings The findings highlight the role of RMS in enabling manufacturing firms to collect data from customers to complement their limited knowledge about their customers. The study demonstrates the business value of using RMS in industrial services and the necessity of capturing the business value through advanced IT technologies. Research limitations/implications The qualitative research design and choice of six target companies limit the findings to business-to-business manufacturing firms. Further, the focus is on the manager’s viewpoint. The findings imply new business value through an efficient use of RMS to complement direct customer contact. Practical implications The study draws attention to the skilled use of advanced RMS and information and communication technology as a prerequisite for the successful application of the IoT in manufacturing firms that provide services for complex solutions and customers dispersed globally. Originality/value The research shows that using information collected through RMS is an important factor in creating business value in a manufacturing firm’s customer relationships. The study contributes by integrating RMS into the customer information collection process to increase the amount, validity and quality of data.
