SummaryThe mode of F Xa inhibition was investigated on a thromboresistant surface with end-point attached partially depoly-merized heparin of an approximate molecular weight of 8000. Affinity chromatography revealed that one fourth of the heparin used in surface coating had high affinity for antithrombin III (AT). The heparin surface adsorbed AT from both human plasma and solutions of purified AT. By increasing the ionic strength in the AT solution the existence of high and low affinity sites could be shown. The uptake of AT was measured and the density of available high and low affinity sites was found to be in the range of 5 HTid 11 pic.omoles/cmf, respectively Thus the estimated density of biologically active high and low ailmity heparm respectively would be 40 and 90 ng/cm2 The heparin coating did not take up or exert F Xa inhibition by itself. With AT adsorbed on both high and low affinity heparin the surface had the capacity to inhibit several consecutive aliquots of F Xa exposed to the surface. When mainly high affinity sites were saturated with AT the inhibition capacity was considerably lower. Tt was demonstrated that the density of AT on both high and low affinity heparin determines the F Xa inhibition capacity whereas the amount of AT on high affinity sites limits the rate of the reaction. This implies that during the inhibition of F Xa there is a continuous surface-diffusion of AT from sites of a lower class to the high affinity sites where the F Xa/AT complex is formed and leaves the surface. The ability of the immobilized heparin to catalyze inhibition of F Xa is likely to be an important component for the thromboresistant properties of a heparin coating with non-compromized AT binding sequences.

Abstract The moist heat (80°C and 65% relative humidity) and light (xenon arc lamp) treatments of accelerated ageing were applied to investigate the colour stability of offset and electrophotographic prints on papers made of virgin and I 00% recycled fibres. The prints were evaluated using spectrophotometric measurements and additional colour differences calculations. In addition to the colour differences, the 2D and 3D colour gamuts are presented. The results reveal the different colour stability of prints. The effect depends on the type of accelerated ageing, printing technique, composition of ink and paper characteristics. Moist heat ageing has less influence on colour stability than light ageing. The electrophotographic prints show better ageing resistance than offset prints. The intluence of ink on print light fastness is considerable. Azo pigments in magenta and yellow have lower light fastness than phthalocyanine pigments in cyan or carbon black. The surface coating has an intluence on light fastness of prints. Meanwhile, prints on recycled papers show similar colour stability compared to prints on papers made of virgin fibres

The possibility of using a non-magnetic fraction of a detonation charge with a diamond fraction from the disposal of ammunition to modify the restoration coatings of a natural product – clay and secondary raw materials — was studied. Four different coating variants were investigated. For this, a T-620 electrode was used with its additional modification by coating with bentonite clay, as well as with a non-magnetic fraction of the detonation charge and applying it in the form of a slip coating on the cutting surface of the cultivator. It is shown that the use of such additives allows to increase the resistance of the working tool of agricultural machines, reduces its tendency to damage due to the minimum penetration of the thin-walled product of the hoe blade and a decrease in the cross section of the transition layer and the level of stress. Each modifier makes changes to increase the microhardness to varying degrees. An increase in microhardness is observed on the surface of the coating and its gradual decrease to the transition layer. The surface coating with the additional introduction of bentonite clay in a liquid bath has the highest microhardness. Its microhardness varies from HV-50-1009.7 to HV-50-615.2. Similarly, the effect of the modifying additive of the detonation charge, the microhardness varies from HV-50-969.6 to HV-50-633.26. When clay or a mixture is introduced into the restoration coating, the wear resistance increases by 1.3 - 2 times with respect to the deposited surfacing only by the electrode and by 2 - 3 times to the initial material of the cultivator. It was found that the lowest coefficient is characteristic for dry friction, as well as for hydroabrasive, for samples with additional modification with clay or a detonation charge
