The recent adoption of cloud computing, Web 2.0 (web as a platform), and Big Data technologies have become the main driver of the paradigm shift. For higher education, choosing the right platform for a next generation of Learning Management System (LMS) namely LMS 2.0 is becoming more important than choosing a tool in the new paradigm. This chapter discusses factors for higher institution in determining a future direction for its LMS to take advantage of pervasive knowledge management, efficiency and effectiveness of operations. Literature studies have deployed for this study to portray the state of future LMS initiative. We found that the trends of cloud computing and big data will be predominant factor in viewing future LMS adoption and implementation. LMS 2.0 can be a solution to make learning systems in a higher education is flexible in terms of resources adoption, quality of learning, knowledge management, and implementation.

Higher education institutions (HEIs) are in knowledge intensive environments and play a central role in knowledge creation and production through research, learning, and teaching. It is important to consider that knowledge plays a vital role to HEIs and thus could benefit from established KM practices. The aim of this chapter is to evaluate the practices or implementation of knowledge management (KM) within HEIs in the context of Brunei Darussalam. It examines the importance, processes and the challenges or barriers of KM practices. The findings demonstrate that among the HEIs in Brunei that have developed KM initiatives, there are differences in the role and approaches. This verifies that KM is multifaceted concept and contextual in practice. Moreover, the findings revealed how knowledge in theory is managed and conceptualised. In conclusion, KM plays a significant role in HEIs in Brunei Darussalam with a contribution through a conceptual KMPro framework which has the potential to provide a guideline for HEIs practitioners to succeed in KM which was criticised as elusive.

In a digital arena, information technology services provision is shifting to a cloud computing ecosystem. Cloud computing is an enabler for digital transformation with cloud computing service providers central to the digital transformation of both companies and higher education. As cloud computing service providers play the role of an ‘architect' for companies as supply chain is digitised and in supporting higher education institutions striving to deliver user-focused services in the face of increasing competition, an understanding of successful characteristics of cloud computing service provider business models is of main interest for providers and may also be of value for companies and higher education institutions when selecting cloud computing service providers. Despite the importance of cloud computing service providers' business models, information systems literature has provided limited analysis on the characteristics of successful business models. As such, the chapter aims to contribute to the emerging research on characteristics of successful business models.
