The Impact

The evolution of the Internet has revolutionised the sourcing and procurement processes in organisations in every industry. The focus of this paper is to analyse the perception of business users on the factors which impact the usage of eprocurement systems in the biomedical industry. There are four factors identified in this research: i.e. control and compliance, cost savings, process automation, and improvements and transparency. The benefit of achieving process automation is the first biggest factor, followed by the need for control and compliance, and transparency, being the second and third factors respectively. The fourth factor, cost savings, is ignored because the users perceived that cost savings will not be realised in the short term, and the returns from the investment could be a couple of years after the eprocurement system has been fully operational. The research also concludes that the ability to perform business analytics and to strengthen the supply chain are the most important factors in measuring the success in the adoption of e-procurement systems

A non-standard approach to solving the activation planning problems of the standardized products in a multinomenclature workshop is considered. This approach is caused by writing control programs and developing new information systems without changing previously developed workstations, which were created by using an outdated programming languages, in particular Clipper applications. The concept of creating a single information space — a set of databases and software tools integrated at the software level is proposed. Customer Relationship Management has its roots in service marketing which is based in turn on the formative work of Berry (1983) and the IMP. Its purpose is to integrate marketing, sales and service functions through business process automation, technological solutions and information resources to maximize each customer contact. In this way service marketing systems facilitate relationships among enterprises, their customers, suppliers and employees and so provide the technological means to put relationship marketing philosophy into practice. Organizations that fail to keep up with competitor’s service marketing capabilities risk being seriously disadvantaged. However, the use of technology on its own is not sufficient and firms must combine developments in IT with a philosophy that calls for the re-organisation of the entire firm around its customers. This shift will not be easily achieved. Our purpose, based on collaborative Canfield/CSC Computer Sciences Corporation studies, is to identify the pitfalls, and offer advice on the successful implementation of service marketing systems in support of relationship marketing strategies, including an audit of the organization’s readiness to proceed.
