This paper applies evolutionary and functional constructivism approaches to the discussion of psychological taxonomies, as implemented in the neurochemical model Functional Ensemble of Temperament (FET). FET asserts that neurochemical systems developed in evolution to regulate functional-dynamical aspects of construction of actions: orientation, selection (integration), energetic maintenance, and management of automatic behavioural elements. As an example, the paper reviews the neurochemical mechanisms of interlocking between emotional dispositions and performance capacities. Research shows that there are no specific neurophysiological systems of positive or negative affect, and that emotional valence is rather an integrative product of many brain systems during estimations of needs and the capacities required to satisfy these needs. The interlocking between emotional valence and functional aspects of performance appears to be only partial since all monoamine and opioid receptor systems play important roles in non-emotional aspects of behaviour, in addition to emotionality. This suggests that the Positive/Negative Affect framework for DSM/ICD classifications of mental disorders oversimplifies the structure of non-emotionality symptoms of these disorders. Contingent dynamical relationships between neurochemical systems cannot be represented by linear statistical models searching for independent dimensions (such as factor analysis); nevertheless, these relationships should be reflected in psychological and psychiatric taxonomies. This article is part of the theme issue ‘Diverse perspectives on diversity: multi-disciplinary approaches to taxonomies of individual differences’.

Traditional business process specification approaches such as BPMN are procedural, as they require specifying exact and complete process flow. In contrast, a declarative process is specified by a set of constraints that mark the boundary of any solution to the process. In this chapter, the authors propose a bounded model-checking-based approach for the verification of declarative processes using satisfiability solving (SAT). The proposed approach does not require exponential space and is very efficient. It uses the highly expressive event calculus (EC) as the modeling formalism, with a sound and complete EC to SAT encoding process. The verification process can include both the functional and non-functional aspects. The authors have also proposed a filtering criterion to filter the clauses of interest from the large set of unsatisfiable clauses for complex processes. The authors have discussed the implementation details and performance evaluation results to justify the practicality of the proposed approach.

The authors present a sonification installation that allows a group of players to interact with an auditory display of neural activity. The system is designed to represent electrical spike propagation in a neuron culture through sound propagation in space. Participants can simulate neural spikes by using a set of specially designed controllers, experimenting and sonically investigating the electrical activity of the brain. The article discusses some aesthetic and functional aspects of sonification and describes the authors' approach for group interaction with auditory displays. It concludes with the description of a performance piece for the system and ideas for improvements and future work.

The debate on the equality of living conditions is on the agenda not only in Germany but throughout Europe. Thematic and/or functional aspects such as centre-periphery models, demographic change, consequences of digitisation, financing aspects, innovation aspects, regional funding - Europe of the Regions, regional funds, always also raise to the structural question of how to maintain the efficiency of public administration in all regions of Europe and Germany. What challenges for the design and performance of public administration and services of general interest arise in the context of increasing social, economic and spatial segregation, and what practical answers are possible, was the topic of the 3rd conference of the Practice and Research Network of German Universities for the Public Sector, which took place on 6 and 7 February 2020 at the University of Applied Sciences in Osnabrück. The anthology presents contributions by 35 authors on the topics "European Dimension", "Territorial, technical and social innovations" and "People and work". With contributions by Hans Adam, Barbara Bartels-Leipold, Kay Bonde, Cathrin Chevalier, Saskia Ehlers, Svenja Gödecke, Arnim Goldbach, Patricia Gozalbez Cantó, Prof. Dr. Johanna Groß, Dr. Norbert Jochens, Dr. Wolfram Karg, Frank Kupferschmidt, Joachim Lippott, Rainer Lisowski, Dr. Anne Melzer, Robert Müller-Török, Martina Röhrich, Prof. Dr. iur. The see package is embedded in the easystats ecosystem, a collection of R packages that operate in synergy to provide a consistent and intuitive syntax when working with statistical models in the R programming language (R Core Team, 2021). Most easystats packages return comprehensive numeric summaries of model parameters and performance. The see package complements these numeric summaries with a host of functions and tools to produce a range of publication-ready visualizations for model parameters, predictions, and performance diagnostics. As a core pillar of easystats, the see package helps users to utilize visualization for more informative, communicable, and well-rounded scientific reporting.

The study aimed at knowing the attitudes of the administrative leaders towards the concept of public relations from its various administrative, organizational, and functional aspects. To achieve this goal the study followed the descriptive-analytical approach. The research hypotheses model was adopted based on what the study said. For the nature of the study, the intention sample was adopted as a questionnaire was designed to collect data. A total of 150 questionnaires were distributed, of which 100 were recovered at a recovery rate of 67% and to ascertain the degree of reliability in the data, the (t- f) test was used to prove the hypotheses. One of the most important findings of the study is the lack of clarity of the concept of public relations in the communications sector in Sudan. This has led to the overlapping work of the departments with each other. As well as the lack of understanding of the functions of public relations functions, the administrative leadership also failed to understand the functions of public relations, which led to the weakness of the effectiveness of the institution by conducting research and planning. The study recommended a review of the regulations governing public relations work in public institutions and private sector companies by formulating them by specialists and experts in public relations to determine their functions accurately and their relationships with other jobs. The study dealt with the relationship between the concept of the organizational status of public relations management and performance in the telecommunications sector in Sudan. The importance of the study was to identify the importance of the administrative functions of public relations in the institutions, which are planning, organizing and conducting research in order to improve the work environment and strengthen social ties between members of the organization.
