The investigation of the mode impact of electric arc surfacing with electrode EN-60M upon coating properties of non-alloy, low-alloy and alloy steels (steel 3, steel 09G2S, steel 12H18N10T) is carried out. As a result of this there is studied the electric arc impact upon structure, physical stress-strain and operation properties of coatings built up with electrode EN-60M. It is defined that the modification in progress with electric arc impact allows milling the structure formed of built up coatings and increasing its uniformity.

The article considers the possibility of applying laser cladding technology to restore the rollers of continuous casting machines. Effective methods of restorative surfacing of rollers of continuous casting machines are briefly presented. The paper describes the process of forming coatings for rollers using laser and electric arc surfacing methods. Laboratory equipment for preparing experimental samples for metallographic studies is described. The method of preparation of laboratory samples of coatings obtained by laser and electric arc surfacing is described. Electric arc surfacing of 20X13 steel samples is performed with PP-NP-25X5FMS powder wire. Laser surfacing of samples made of 20X13 steel is performed with an economically alloyed powder based on Fe-Co-Cr-Mo iron. The structure and composition of surfaced coatings by electric arc and laser surfacing methods for rollers of continuous casting machines are studied. The mechanical properties of the applied coatings for the rollers are studied. Tribological characteristics of coatings applied by electric arc and laser surfacing methods are investigated. To evaluate the properties of coatings, a structural and phase analysis is performed, and the friction coefficients and wear rate are determined. Graphic images of the deposited layer structures are presented. The dependences of the friction coefficient of the deposited layers are presented and their differences for each of the surfacing methods are analyzed. An explanation of the differences in the properties of coatings based on the analysis of their formation conditions is offered. The efficiency of using the laser surfacing method for restoring parts of metallurgical equipment is evaluated.

In modern conditions of economic instability in various sectors of industry for the national economic complex, it is important to improve the technology for repairing parts of power units, while the development of modern technological methods for restoring the contact surfaces of parts should be carried out in the conditions of enterprises and be accessible. The article compares the most common methods of surface parts restoration, such as flame, plasma spraying and electric arc surfacing. Studied experience of various specialists working in this direction made it possible to implement these reduction methods using a charge based on a mineral tungsten-containing concentrate, boron and carbon. The process of alloying the resulting coatings was investigated, where tungsten is in the form of tungsten trioxide (WO3) and calcium tungstate (CaWO4). A comparative analysis of the methods for restoring the surface of the exhaust valve cone of the D49 diesel engine has been carried out. The article presents results of microand macroanalysis of the structures of the obtained coatings and the base metal of the restored part, the results of the analysis of the chemical composition, the evaluation of the microhardness and adhesive strength of the adhesion of the obtained coatings to the surface of the base metal. Authors substantiated the prospect of applying the methods of gas-thermal restoration of the surface of parts in relation to the method of electric arc surfacing. Subsequent studies will focus on the installation of remanufactured parts in the internal combustion engine of the locomotive, their operation in real conditions, and the assessment of reliability and durability. Research in this direction will improve the quality indicators of the restored surfaces of power unit parts of rolling stock.

The paper presents dry friction test results of two experimentalSTEIN-MESYFIL wires with different chemical composition.Thermal spray coatings properties depend on the chemical compositionand the technological parameters of the spraying. Eachcoating was sprayed in the three different modes. The microhardness,porosity, oxides were analyzed in the coatings morphology.Dry friction wear was assessed in the mass loss of the coatings. Santrauka Straipsnyje pateikiami elektrolankinio purškimo būdu užpurkštų dviejų skirtingos cheminės sudėties eksperimentinių Stein-mesyfil vielų sausosios trinties tyrimų rezultatai. Terminio purškimo būdu gautų dangų savybės priklauso ne tik nuo cheminės sudėties, bet ir nuo technologinių purškimo parametrų. Kiekviena danga užpurkšta trimis skirtingais režimais. Nustatytas dangų mikrokietumas, porėtumas, oksidų kiekis ir nagrinėta dangų morfologija. Sausosios trinties dilimo rezultatai vertinti nustatant prarastąją bandinių masę.
