The publication is devoted to the international conference, which is held annually at the S. Vavilov Institute for the History of Science and Technology of RAS in Saint-Peterburg. In 2021, the conference is dedicated to the anniversaries of A. P. Karpinsky and L. S. Berg. Within the framework of the conference, the St. Petersburg Branch of the Archive of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SPbF ARAN) traditionally organized scientific session “History of archival affairs, archival funds and collections”, the participants of which discussed a wide range of issues related to the peculiarities of the formation and use of archival documents and collections.

Institute of Archaeology, Russian Academy of Sciences annually organizes a number of field studies both in Russia and abroad. Institute’s expeditions have become major scientific forums that annually gather researchers from Russian institutions, as well as peers from foreign archaeological centres. Scientists working in other fields also take part in these forums, since methods of natural science become more and more important and popular in archaeology. National and International Conference “Archaeological Studies in Russia: New Sources and Interpretations”, was dedicated to the findings and discoveries made in 2019.

Оn October 28–30, 2019, at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, was held the 9th International Conference “Written Historical Sources of the East. Aspects of Translation and Interpretation”. It attended by Orientalist scholars of different specialties: historians, specialists in languages and historians of literature. They offered their interpretation of the wide variety of historical sources written in more than 10 languages. The variety of researched material invited various approa ches and methods of its analysis as it has been demonstrated by 30 speakers, who represented institutions of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Ufa and Olomouc (Czech Republic). The Conferences was opened by Professor Vladimir Alpatov, the Member of the Russian Academy. In his talk, he highlighted the fact that the interdisciplinary format of the Conference has transpired to attract various scholars who work on various aspects of the history of the East. Over a third of the conference participants attended it for the first time. The present communication provides a summary of the most interesting talks made at the conference.

This year is the 150th anniversary of A.M. Gorky’s birthday. His social initiatives and his unique talent as a writer are preserved in the cultural memory of not only Russia, but also of many other countries. A.M. Gorky Institute of World Literature (under the auspices of the Russian Academy of Sciences) arranged three major international events with the support of the RFBR: a round table “Humanism of Maxim Gorky — a Writer and Public Figure” at UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris on October 2, 2018 (France), International conference “Ideological Contexts of M. Gorky’s Creativity” on October 25–26, 2018, in Naples (Italy) and the unveiling of M. Gorky’s monument on October 27 in Sorrento (Italy).

This book contains all abstracts accepted for presentation at the Fifth International Conference on Porphyrins and Phthalocyanines (ICPP-5) which was held in Moscow, Russia, July 6-11, 2008 and organized by Prof. Aslan Yu. Tsivadze and Prof. Yulia G. Gorbunova from A.N. Frumkin Institute of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry of Russian Academy of Sciences (IPCE RAS). The printed book of abstracts was given to all ICPP-5 attendees, being a necessary tool to follow the rich scientific program of the meeting, and should also prove useful to those scientists who were not able to attend the biennial scientific meeting of the Society of Porphyrins and Phthalocyanines (SPP).
