The SiO2-ZrO2-Al2O3-Cr2O3 film is coated on the surface of stainless steel using analytical reagent TEOS, ZrOCl2·8H2O, Al(NO3)3·9H2O and Cr(NO3)3·9H2O as precursor and basing on mole ratio to calculate through Sol-gel method. The phase transformation behavior, erosion resistance, thermal shock resistance and abrasion resistance of ceramic coating by different heat treatment are studied. The results show that: 1)The SiO2-ZrO2-Al2O3-Cr2O3 gel coatings has non-crystalline structure after the treatment at 700°C and 800°C. New substance is not created below 700°C 2) The stainless steel substrate with ceramic coating has a higher erosion resistance at high temperature (700°Cand 800°C)than that without coating.3) Thermal shock resistance of the samples treated in 700°C is the best which has reached within 17-21cycles (900°C, air cooling). 4) The stainless steel substrate with ceramic coating has a higher abrasion resistance than that without coating. The samples treated at 700°Cand 800°C have the best abrasion resistance.

The article mainly introduct the development and application of shotcreting castable for metallurgical steel ladle. The shotcreting castable mainly use tabular alumina, white fused corundum, fused spinel, aluminate cement, alumina micro powder, fused magnesium as raw material, After studied by the workability and physical properties of gunning machine, it is proved by application in steel ladle, the shotcreting castable has a good workability, with higher adhesive rate, faster hardening speed, better thermal shock resistance and stronger erosion resistance ability. So the shotcreting castable has a higher service life.

The SiC/h-BN ceramic composites with different h-BN size were fabricated by Plasma Active Sintering (PAS) method. For the SiC/ nano-sized h-BN ceramic composites, when the h-BN content was increased, because the nano-sized h-BN crystals were homogeneously dispersed around the SiC grains of the matrix, the bending strength and fracture toughness of the composites decreased slowly, but the hardness decreased sharply, therefore the machinability and thermal shock resistance were improved noticeable.

Si3N4/hBN composites were fabricated by hot isostatic pressing at 1700°C/3h with 1, 3 and 5 wt. % micro-sized or nano-sized hexagonal boron nitride particles added to silicon nitride matrix. An indentation quench test method was used for estimation of thermal shock resistance of monolithic Si3N4and Si3N4/hBN composites. Thermal shock resistance of the composites increased with the increase of size and volume of hBN particles. The critical temperature difference for the composites with micro-sized hBN was significantly higher (over 900°C) compared to the monolithic silicon nitride (580°C).
