Electron beam additive wire-feed deposition of Cu-7.5wt.%Al bronze on a stainless-steel substrate has been carried out at heat input levels 0.21, 0.255, and 0.3 kJ/mm. The microstructures formed at 0.21 kJ/mm were characterized by the presence of both zigzagged columnar and small equiaxed grains with 10% of Σ3 annealing twin grain boundaries. No equiaxed grains were found in samples obtained at 0.255 and 0.3 kJ/mm. The zigzagged columnar ones were only retained in samples obtained at 0.255 kJ/mm. The fraction of Σ3 boundaries reduced at higher heat input values to 7 and 4%, respectively. The maximum tensile strength was achieved on samples obtained with 0.21 kJ/mm as tested with a tensile axis perpendicular to the deposited wall’s height. More than 100% elongation-to-fracture was achieved when testing the samples obtained at 0.3 kJ/mm (as tested with a tensile axis coinciding with the wall’s height).

Рассмотрены процессы формирования адгезионных отложений, изменяющих физико-химические свойства поверхностей и представляющих определенные проблемы для удаления в процессах санитарной обработки. Представлен анализ основных факторов, влияющих на работу адгезии молочных продуктов с субстратом. Определены значения поверхностного натяжения восстановленных молочных продуктов-адгезивов при комнатной температуре, и рассчитана работа адгезии на субстратах (стекло и нержавеющая сталь). Исследование направлено на измерение и сравнение работы адгезии различных молочных продуктов по отношению к субстрату - поверхности из нержавеющей стали, используя краевой угол смачивания и поверхностное натяжение. The article discusses the processes of formation of adhesive deposits that change the physicochemical properties of surfaces and present certain problems for removal in the processes of sanitization. The analysis of the main factors influencing the work of adhesion of dairy products to the substrate is presented. The values of the surface tension of reconstituted dairy products - adhesives at room temperature were determined and the work of adhesion on substrates (glass and stainless steel) was calculated. The study aims to measure and compare the adhesion performance of various dairy products in relation to a stainless steel substrate using contact angle and surface tension.

Two kinds of 60NiTi powders were prepared by pure Ni mixed with Ti powders, and 55NiTi alloy powder with pure Ni powder and both the powders were fully mixed by alcohol ball milling. Two kinds of coatings (denoted as 60Ni-40Ti and 55NiTi-5Ni) were prepared on a 316L stainless steel substrate by laser cladding. The microstructure, microhardness and electrochemical behavior of the prepared coatings were investigated extensively. The results show that 55NiTi-5Ni has a typical dendritic eutectic structure, but 60Ni-40Ti tends to form a eutectic network structure. The main phases in both coatings are (Ni, Fe)Ti and (Ni, Fe)3Ti; however, the (Ni, Fe)Ti phase is dominant in 55NiTi-5Ni, but the (Ni, Fe)3Ti phase is more prevalent in 60Ni-40Ti. The microhardness was significantly improved with the 316L stainless steel substrate, and the microhardness of 55NiTi-5Ni is slightly higher than 60Ni-40Ti. The corrosion resistance of the two coatings in 3.5 wt% NaCl solution also leads to significant improvements compared with the substrate, and the corrosion resistance of 55NiTi-5Ni was also increased. These different behaviors and characteristics might be related to the different microstructures. Uniform and fine eutectic structure in 55NiTi-5Ni coating lead to better performance, which is also conducive to the formation of the dense oxide film to improve corrosion resistance.

We demonstrated the deposition of the architecture of graphene oxide on stainless steel substrate and its potential environmental application. The synthesis and characterization of graphene oxide were described. The controlled formation of graphene oxide coatings in the form of the homogenous structure on stainless steel is demonstrated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The structure, morphology and properties of the material were assessed by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Raman spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The morphology and stability of these structures are shown to be particularly related to the pre-treatment of stainless steel substrate before the electrophoretic deposition. This approach opens up a new route to the facile fabrication of advanced electrode coatings with potential use in environmental applications.
