The effect of hydrogenation conditions on rate of hydrogenation of rape seed oil was studied in a laboratory stirred tank reactor of 250 ml volume, with nickel on kieselguhr catalyst within the range of conditions (150 ⪬ t(°C) ⪬ 190), (0.1 ⪬ P(MPa) ⪬ 1.0), and (0.01 ⪬ cNi(%) ⪬ 0.37). On the basis of these results a comparison of the effect of a Venturi tube and single pipe gas inlet as gas distributors on hydrogenation rate was made in a bench scale unit of 5 l volume.

The effect of gamma pre-irradiation of the mixed nickel-magnesium oxide catalyst on the kinetics of hydrogenation of maleic acid in the liquid phase has been studied. The changes of the hydrogenation rate are compared with the changes of the adsorbed amount of the acid and with the changes of the solution composition, activation energy, and absorbed dose of the ionizing radiation. From this comparison and from the interpretation of the experimental data it can be deduced that two types of centers can be distinguished on the surface of the catalyst under study, namely the sorption centres for the acid and hydrogen and the reaction centres.

AbstractThe efficient organocatalyzed Michael/ammonolysis cascade reaction of N-protected 4-aminopyrazolones and α,β-unsaturated acyl phosphates has been developed. This tactic gives rise to architecturally multifarious spiro(2-oxopyrrolidinyl)-5,4′-pyrazolones in good productiveness (up to 88% yield) and with moderate to good diastereoselectivities (up to 20:1 dr). These novel hybrid heterocycles would be promising candidates for drug-discovery programs and chemical biology.

This work is devoted to the study of the activity of 1% platinum catalysts containing rare earth element oxides (OREE) - Gd2O3, Ce2O3 and aluminum oxide as a carrier in the hydrogenation reactions of nitro compounds on the example of n-nitrotoluene. These catalytic systems in the conditions of liquid-phase hydrogenation provide high selectivity of the process and practically quantitative yield. The process was controlled by the potentiometric method, the reaction rate was judged by the amount of hydrogen absorbed per unit time. It is found that 20% and higher aqueous alcohol solutions can be used as a solvent during hydrogenation. It was found that the initial hydrogenation rate for 1% Pt/Gd2O3 is 3.2 times higher, and for 1% Pt/Ce2O3 Cerium it is 1.6 times higher relative to the 1% Pt/Al2O3 comparison catalyst.
