BackgroundThe WikiRecs evidence summaries and recommendations for clinical practice are developed using trustworthy methods. The process is triggered by studies that may potentially change practice, aiming at implementing new evidence into practice fast.AimTo share our first experiences developing WikiRecs for primary care and to reflect on the possibilities and pitfalls of this method.MethodIn March 2017, we started developing WikiRecs for primary health care to speed up the process of making potentially practice-changing evidence in clinical practice. Based on a well-structured question a systematic review team summarises the evidence using the GRADE approach. Subsequently, an international panel of primary care physicians, methodological experts and patients formulates recommendations for clinical practice. The patient representatives are involved as full guideline panel members. The final recommendations and supporting evidence are disseminated using various platforms, including MAGICapp and scientific journals.ResultsWe are developing WikiRecs on two topics: alpha-blockers for urinary stones and supervised exercise therapy for intermittent claudication. We did not face major problems but will reflect on issues we had to solve so far. We anticipate having the first WikiRecs for primary care available at the end of 2017.ConclusionThe WikiRecs process is a promising method — that is still evolving — to rapidly synthesise and bring new evidence into primary care practice, while adhering to high quality standards.

Abstract Taenia solium is a zoonotic parasite that causes taeniasis and cysticercosis in humans (as final hosts) and cysticercosis in pigs (as intermediate hosts). The Russian Federation (RF) is traditionally considered as endemic for this zoonosis. However, the epidemiological data on T. solium infection have not been reviewed for the past 20 years, in which time dynamic economical and societal changes have occurred in the RF. The aim of this systematic review was to analyse the status of T. solium infection in RF in the 2000–2019 period. A literature search was conducted, which collected published articles, grey literature and official data on the epidemiology of T. solium taeniasis and cysticercosis in the RF published from 2000. From a total of 2021 articles and 24 official reports originally returned by the search, data were extracted from 12 full text articles and 11 official reports. Taenia solium taeniasis was continuously reported in the RF between 2000 and 2019, with a tenfold decrease in the incidence, from 0.2 per 100,000 population in 2000 to 0.023/100,000 in 2019. Also, the number of administrative units where taeniasis was detected continuously decreased. Cysticercosis in pigs had a declining trend after 2006. In conclusion, although decreasing, T. solium infection is still endemic in several regions and suspected to be endemic in most of the RF.

Abstract Background Lymphoma is a dreaded complication of inflammatory bowel diseases [IBD]. Knowledge about lymphoma in patients with IBD is limited to epidemiological data and the description of risk factors. We performed a systematic review to describe the clinical characteristics and prognosis of lymphoma in patients with IBD. Methods Electronic databases were searched up to June 1, 2020. All published clinical characteristics of lymphoma occurring in patients with IBD were collected. Results Eleven studies were included. A total of 589 lymphomas were described in patients with IBD. As seen in de novo lymphoma, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma [NHL] was the most common histological subtype [83.9%]. Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma [DLBCL] and follicular lymphoma were the most well-represented NHL in patients with IBD [30% and 13% respectively]. Two main differences were observed in comparison with de novo lymphoma: primary intestinal lymphoma [PIL] represented a large proportion of lymphoma in patients with IBD [22–75%] whereas mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue [MALT] lymphoma was under-represented. Epstein–Barr virus [EBV]-positive status was observed in a large proportion of tumours [44–75%]. Survival data of lymphoma in patients with IBD were similar to those of de novo lymphoma. Discussion This systematic review first highlights that PIL [especially DLBCL subtype] is significantly more frequent in patients with IBD and represents the most common entity. Conversely, MALT lymphoma is extremely rare in the IBD population. However, the overall quality of the evidence is low. Further studies are required to better define lymphoma characteristics in patients with IBD.

Cases of thelaziosis by Thelazia callipaeda have been increasing considerably in Europe throughout the 21st century, with recent emphasis on Eastern Europe. A systematic review was conducted using defined search terms across three major databases and, additionally, with the examination of the references of the 56 articles selected. Available information about epidemiological and clinical features of all cases of thelaziosis by T. callipaeda in companion animals, wildlife and humans was extracted, evaluated and subjected to qualitative and quantitative analysis. In all cross-sectional studies about dogs, cats and red foxes, males were more frequently infected than females (dogs: p = 0.0365; cats: p = 0.0164; red foxes: p = 0.0082). Adult dogs seem to be more prone to infection (p < 0.0001), as well as large-sized dogs (p < 0.0001), and companion animals that live exclusively outdoors (p < 0.0001). Dogs and red foxes involved in these cross-sectional studies harboured significantly more female than male nematodes (p < 0.0001). Thelaziosis by T. callipaeda is far from controlled in Europe. Only through updated epidemiological data, knowledge improvement and awareness can correct diagnosis and appropriate treatment and prevention be ensured to tackle this zoonosis.
