The microtest, SEM, was carried out to study the fracture surface of salt rock after the Brazilian splitting test and splitting fatigue test were carried out with a servo-controlled test machine RMT-150B. The results indicate that the deviation of using the tablet splitting method is larger than that of using steel wire splitting method, in Brazilian splitting test of salt rock, when the conventional data processing method is adopted. There are similar deformation features in both the conventional splitting tests and uniaxial compression tests. The stress-strain curves include compaction, elasticity, yielding, and failure stage. Both the vertical deformation and horizontal deformation of splitting fatigue tests under constant average loading can be divided into three stages of “loosening-tightness-loosening.” The failure modes of splitting fatigue tests under the variational average loading are not controlled by the fracturing process curve of the conventional splitting tests. The deformation extent of fatigue tests under variational average loading is even greater than that of conventional splitting test. The tensile strength of salt rock has a relationship with crystallization conditions. Tensile strength of thick crystal salt rock is lower than the bonded strength of fine-grain crystals.

For the purpose of researching the freezing-thawing cycle pHysical mechanics properties of sandstone in various chemical solutions, taking the red sandstones from Shandong as the example, freezing-thawing cycles experiments under the condition of H2SO4 solution (pH≈1.5), NaOH solution (pH≈12.5), NaCl solution (pH≈7, mass fraction is 4%) and water were conducted. The nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) technique was used to test the porosity of rock samples after freezing-thawing cycles. Brazilian splitting test was also conducted to test the samples with different times of freezing-thawing cycles and soaking solutions. Results show that the quality change of samples in various solutions is different. The mass of sample in water increased, however, the mass change of the sample in other three solutions showed a firstly increasing and then decreasing tendency. The porosity distribution in rock changed obviously after different time’s freezing-thawing cycles. After 30 times freezing-thawing cycles, the porosity in H2SO4 solution, NaOH solution, NaCl solution and water has increased by 151.1%, 85.443%, 39.388%, and 17.976% respectively. With the increase of freezing-thawing cycle’s times, tensile strength of the rock reduced, but the damage properties were different in various solutions. The research can provide some mechanical parameters basis to physical mechanics properties of sandstones.

In terms of the degradation of mechanical parameters of rock mass in the hydrofluctuation belt of a reservoir bank slope arising from rainfall and the reservoir level fluctuation, the moderately weathered sandstone in a side slope of the Three Gorges Reservoir Region is selected as a research object to carry out “drying-saturation-drying” tests for disks with two thicknesses (h=25 mm,h=50 mm) in different cycles; a spiral CT machine, an ultrasonic velocity meter, and a light Schmidt hammer are utilzed to conduct nondestructive testing on dry-wet cycles; through the Brazilian splitting test, the uniaxial tensile strength of “dry” and “saturated” sandstones under different dry-wet cycles is obtained. The research shows that, with the increase of the dry-wet circles (n), the longitudinal wave velocity and the rebound strength of sandstones are linearly decreased withn; the uniaxial tensile strength of sandstones and the mean CT number of cross sections are logarithmically decreased withn; the fitting equation of macro/micromechanical parameters and dry-wet cycles (n) of sandstones is raised, which is provided as a reference basis for the weathering process of sandstones under dry-wet cycles.

Rock mechanics test is not only the basis for obtaining the mechanical parameters of rock but also an important means for studying rock mechanics and engineering. In this paper, the uniaxial compression deformation test, Brazilian splitting test, and cornea pressure shear test are carried out for rocks in the Dajishan tungsten mine. The basic mechanical parameters such as uniaxial compressive strength, tensile strength, elastic modulus, Poisson’s ratio, and internal friction angle of ore rock and surrounding rock are obtained. Meanwhile, damage characteristics of rock are deeply studied and analyzed under different experimental conditions. According to rock mechanics parameters which are obtained from indoor rock mechanics tests, three design schemes of stope structure parameters are optimized by using the FLAC3D numerical simulation software. On the premise of ensuring the stability of the stope structure, the recovery rate of ore and the production capacity of the stope are taken into consideration. It is suggested that the second scheme should be adopted for mines (18 m for ore room and 7 m for ore pillar), which provides scientific guidance for the safe and efficient mining of mines.
