A testing system for the outdoor fitness equipment has been developed, which conforms to the new national standard. It can be applied to fatigue performance test, stability test and impact deformation test. Using Omron CPM2A PLC, the system guarantees industrial-level reliability. Measurement data is acquired and subsequently transmitted to PC via Host Link protocol. Developed in C#, the monitoring program applies a dedicated measurement thread. Attention has been paid to the assignment of PLC data memory. Therefore improved performance in speed can be achieved.

Limit state design, incorporated into many recent geotechnical design codes, introduces the application of partial or resistance factors to selected characteristic values. Partial or resistance factors are usually set by national standard organizations, while characteristic values of geotechnical parameters are selected by engineers, often based on sparse measurement data combined with subjective engineering experience and judgment. Due to this subjective selection and individual judgment, the characteristic value derived by different engineers from the same dataset may vary greatly, especially when the test data contain significant variability. To address this issue, a new method based on Bayesian compressive sampling (BCS) is proposed in this study. BCS is able to reconstruct a high-resolution geotechnical property profile from sparse measurement data and quantify the uncertainty, e.g., confidence interval (CI) associated with the interpreted profile. The quantified uncertainty in the BCS has a clear statistical meaning: the corresponding confidence level for a CI from the BCS is the expected coverage proportion (i.e., fraction) of the complete profile that falls within the CI, if all data points along depth can be measured to provide the complete profile. This statistical meaning can be used to facilitate objective determination of characteristic values for geotechnical properties.

The noise reduction and ventilation cooling is contradictory each other for urban indoor substation. Our efforts were focused on the problems of the excessive noise and poor ventilation of indoor substation in this paper, the existing shortages of the primary ventilation cooling program and the noise source characteristics of the indoor substation were analyzed, and the renovation of noise reduction and ventilation cooling was proposed. The measurement data of before and after renovation demonstrated that this renovation on noise reduction and ventilation cooling has a visible effect in meeting the national standard for noise level of the substation surrounding as well as in improving the cooling effect significantly.

We have studied and analyzed status and metrological supervision of blood glucose monitors, individual devices for a person’s blood glucose level measurement. It has been indicated that nowadays blood glucose monitors like other individual devices for medical measurement are not allowed to be involved in telemedicine public service. This accounts for absence of metrological supervision with these measurement devices in telemedicine. In addition, the key problem is absence of safe methods and means of remote verificaition, calibration and transmission of measurement data to health care centers. The article offers a remote test method for blood glucose monitors using a number of resistors with values correlating with measured blood glucose level. The available method has been successfully trialed in real practice.
