The scientific heritage of Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine P. F. Gozhik in Quaternary geology isdescribed. The analysis of the scientific heritage of the NASU academician P. F. Gozhik in Quaternary geology (paleontology, stratigraphy, paleogeography, marine geology, geomorphology, tectonics) is made for the period from 1962 to 2020. The scientificachievements of P.F. Gozhik were published in more than 120 scientific papers (monographs, articles, preprints, guides, etc.)and are the next: the study of the alluvial terraces of the main rivers of Ukraine such as Danube, Dniester, Southern Buh, Prut,Dnieper (geomorphology of the river valleys, lithology of the alluvial deposits, age determination of the terraces according tothe mollusks etc.), the estuaries of the south-western coast of the Black Sea (the attitude conditions and the stratigraphy of theestuarу deposits, the history of formation of the estuaries), the glacial dislocations of the Middle Dnieper (the study of the glacialand water-glacial deposits; the structure, dynamics, conditions of the regional glacial formations and glacial dislocations), theloess formation of Ukraine (the distribution and the sediment thickness of the loess and buried soils, the features of the verticalstratification of a loess formation, the loess mineral composition etc.), the marine sediments of the Black Sea, the biostratigraphyof the continental (alluvial, loess) and marine sediments, the paleogeography of the Quaternary, the history of the developmentof the continental part of Ukraine and the Black Sea in the Quaternary, the study of the Quaternary freshwater and marinemollusks. The great role of P.F. Gozhik in the organization of the joint Ukrainian-Polish studies of the loess sediments is shown.

The information resources of the Federal State Budget Scientific Institution “Marine Hydrophysical Institute of RAS” (FSBSI MHI) oceanographic data bank (MHI BOD), which contains about 115,000 oceanographic and more than 27,000 hydrochemical stations accomplished in the Black Sea coastal zone, as well as experience accumulated while providing information support of the coastal zone research, main directions of activities, and short-term plans are considered.

One of the important unsolved problems related to the evolution of living conditions on Earth is the mechanism of the rapid transformation of the Black Sea from a shallow lake-type sea into a deep-water basin, the earth's crust in the central part of which does not have a granite layer. There is no explanation as to how “granite-free depressions” were formed at the bottom of the sea, which are currently covered by sediment. Investigations of these processes were started in the middle of the last century by scientists-geologists of the Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences and its South. In this article, the authors propose a mechanism for the destruction of the earth's crust and the formation of depressions in the inner seas during the Messinian crisis.

On May 20, 2021, the head of the Laboratory of Lithodynamics and Geology of the Southern Department of the Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor, Doctor of Geographical Sciences, prominent scientist and public figure Kosyan Ruben Derenikovich is 75 years old. R.D. Kosyan is a leading Russian expert in the field of studying the regularities of hydrogenic movements of detrital material in the coastal zone of the sea. He is a participant of many expeditions and thematic conferences, an expert on some major international projects, and lectures in various countries of the world. Under his leadership, a group of models was developed to calculate the long-shore sediment discharge, as well as the associated deformation of the relief in the coastal zone of the sea. R.D. Kosyan was awarded the Order of Courage, as well as the International Medal of the Black Sea Commission for merits in the study of the Black Sea. Congratulations to the wonderful scientist-oceanologist on the solemn date.

The Kazakhs Junior Horde, due to external - internal political reasons was the first one who became the part of Russian Empire. Chinggizid Abulkhair was an initiator of the Kazakh society incorporation into the structure of the Russian Empire. The aggravation of the Kazakh-Bashkir, Kazakh-Kalmyk, Kazakh-Dzungar relations leads to a search for a strong overlord. At the beginning of the 18th century, after the Prut campaign, the interests of the Russian Empire moved from the Black Sea to Asia, which is south-east direction. Formation of the imperial concept, change in the concept of Russias historical mission on the international scene forms new strategic and political aims of the Russian Empire. The Academy of Sciences founded in 1724 by the emperor Peter I as well as representatives of local administrations started to explain to the Russian public the acquisition of new lands policy. The reflection of this event to the Russian historiography of the XVIII-XIX centuries is studied in this article. The attention is paid to the study of a concept of citizenship, an interpretation of its character, assessment of the Kazakh khan Abulkhair, the accession initiator by pre-revolutionary historiography representatives. The article considers views of P.I. Rychkov, A.I. Levshin, who are for the first time in their writings, on the basis of archival, authentic sources, gathered a wealth of factual material, scientifically substantiated opinions on the issue of incorporation.
