The effects of controlled rolling and controlled cooling parameters on the microstructure and mechanical properties of 550MPa grade engineering mechanism steel were investigated in the industrial trial conditions. The results show that the mechanical properties of 550MPa grade engineering mechanism steel are obviously improved by controlling finishing rolling temperature ranged from 780°Cto 850°C, and by using accelerate cooling after rolling, ferrite grains are refined markedly of the steel which possess excellent strength and toughness behaviors.

The thermal simulation experiments of X80 pipeline steel were performed using Gleeble 1500 thermomechanical simulator. The controlled rolling and controlled cooling experiments were used to investigate the effect of cooling rate on the microstructures and mechanical properties of X80 pipeline steel. The results show that the cooling rate plays an important role in the ferrite grain size and the volume fraction of granular bainite. In order to obtain good comprehensive mechanical properties, it is necessary that the cooling rate should be 12~20°C/s.

Effect of the laying head temperature and controlled cooling process on microstructure and mechanical properties of 72LXA wire rod were investigated. The results show that under the same cooling process, with the raising laying temperature and increasing sorbitizing rate and decreasing proeutectoid ferrite, the steel rod strength is improving, proeutectoid ferrite and sorbitizing rate are the critical impact factors on steel rod properties;indentifying cooling after perlite forming can restrain the dissolve of lamellar cementite;the mechanical properties of whole rod coil are improved by the proper rolling rate and air cooling. The high strength of 1050 MPa of steel rod was obtained, that shows the defined hot rolling process can conform to the steel rod properties requirement.
