Measurement of the productivity of firms is an important research issue in productivity literature. Over the years, various methods have been developed to measure firm productivity across the globe. But there is no unanimity on the use of methods, and research on the identification of factors which determine productivity has been neglected. In view of these gaps, this study aims to measure total factor productivity (TFP) and tries to identify firm-specific factors which determine productivity of Indian manufacturing companies. The study is based on data of 616 firms from 1998–99 to 2012–13. To measure TFP, the Levinsohn–Petrin (L-P) method has been employed, and the fully modified ordinary least squares (FMOLS) method has been used to identify factors that affect TFP. The results reveal that embodied and disembodied technology plays a crucial role in the determination of productivity overall in manufacturing and other sub-industries. Similarly, the size of firms and intensity of raw material imports are also important for the determination of productivity across the sub-industries. JEL Classification: C14, C33, D24, L60

The Republic of Moldova is in the area of risky agriculture. Limited land and water resources make the food supply vulnerable to extreme weather conditions during the year. In order to increase agricultural production, it is necessary to implement investments in the material - technical and research base, to re-store the irrigation system. Climate change can lead to a decrease in the productivity potential of many crops, requiring a revision of crop rotation with the determination of risk areas, a revision of the spectrum of diseases and pests with the continuous updating of plant protection systems.

In this paper the situation of pollution with nitrogen compounds both in the EU member states and in the Republic of Moldova was analyzed. Also, the existing methods of determination of nitrate ions are analyzed and the necessity of elaborating the method for determination of the nitrate ions in the presence of nitrite ions.

Enterprises in their classical form are complex and inflexible structures, unable to respond quickly to the environmental changes. At the same time, the existing national and international regulations and procedures limit their agility and velocity of work but are necessary for the existence of business settlements. We all know that such structures do not stimulate the creation and promotion of innovations that we all need, and that can lead not only to competitive advantage but also to the development of country indices. In this respect, the article aims to determine the influence of the Republic of Moldova economic development index by the joint ventures and stateowned enterprises’ investments. In the research, we use the documentation methods of statistical data and two linear regression unifactorial econometric models and the statistical procedure Least Squares Method. Investigation and description of this topic allow the author to generalize the main findings of the major influence of the enterprise’s investments on the economic and social development of the Republic of Moldova.

This study examines Total Factor Productivity (hereinafter TFP) convergence in the Western Balkan countries (Republic of Slovenia-SL, Republic of Croatia-CR, Republic of Serbia-SR, and the Republic of Srpska-RS). Our analysis will cover the time period 2000- 2018. Our goal here is threefold. First, we will estimate the TFP for selected countries, and to do so, we will apply the growth accounting. Second, we will use the development accounting to test for the unconditional catching up. And third, we will test the country’s ability to learn or absorb new technology from the more advanced leader through the ``technology gap`` and ``technology spillovers``. In our survey, we will assume, apriori, that most developed country is Slovenia, followed by Croatia, Serbia, and the Republic of Srpska.

In South Africa the modern outlook towards time may be said to have started in 1948. Both the two major observatories, The Royal Observatory in Cape Town and the Union Observatory (now known as the Republic Observatory) in Johannesburg had, of course, been involved in the astronomical determination of time almost from their inception, and the Johannesburg Observatory has been responsible for the official time of South Africa since 1908. However the pendulum clocks then in use could not be relied on to provide an accuracy better than about 1/10 second, which was of the same order as that of the astronomical observations. It is doubtful if much use was made of even this limited accuracy outside the two observatories, and although there may – occasionally have been a demand for more accurate time, it was certainly not voiced.
