The paper reports the cases of three adolescents affected by somatic symptom disorder (SSD) and serious social dysfunction. In one case a depressive disorder was also present that improved with a targeted pharmacologic treatment. The Author underlines that adolescents and young adults with SSD are at high risk to remain unrecognized without the necessary medical aid.
