In this present work, rare earth elements La was added to catalysts for the oxidative esterification of methacrolein (MAL) to methyl methacrylate(MMA). Catalysts were characterized by means of BET techniques. Effects of La proportion, material liquid pH and catalyst amount on catalytic performance were investigated. The results indicated that the addation of La in appropriate proportion could improve the catalyst’s activity. 1.0% was found to be the optimum La additional amount. Under the condition of reation temperature 323K, w%(catalyst) 3.6%, proportion of La in the catalyst 1%, pH of material liquid 10.0 the MMA yield could reached up to 89.8%.

AbstractEffects of the anion type on the structure, thermal stability, and catalytic performance of La-doped Cu-Mn catalysts prepared by co-precipitation were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller, temperature-programmed reduction, temperature-programmed reduction of oxidized surfaces, and temperature-programmed desorption. The Cu-Mn catalyst was tested for the water-gas shift (WGS) reaction. The main crystalline phase of samples prepared with sulfate, acetate, chloride, and nitrate as the starting materials was a Cu1.5Mn1.5O4 spinel structure, following the WGS reaction, the main crystalline phases were transformed into Cu and MnO. The sample prepared with acetate as the starting material showed the most obvious MnCO3 characteristic diffraction peaks, with better synergistic effects of Cu and MnO, increased adsorption of CO2 and improved dispersion of Cu on the catalyst surface; also, the best thermal stability and the highest low temperature catalytic activity were observed. The sample prepared with nitrate as the starting material maintained high thermal stability and catalytic performance in the range of 400°C to 450°C, but CO conversion decreased below 350°C. Catalytic performance of the sample prepared with sulfate and chloride as the starting materials was poor, ranging from 200°C to 450°C.

The catalytic performance of vanadia catalysts with 15 wt% V supported on TiO2and (15 wt% V + 4.6 wt% La) supported on TiO2in oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) of n-butane was investigated. The catalysts were characterized by means of TPD-NH3, TPR-H2, UV-Vis, and BET. Testing of samples showed that vanadia catalysts were active for the reaction. It was found that La doping of V/TiO2catalyst had a negative effect on the dispersion of V species and led to formation of V2O5clusters. This resulted in a loss of activity. Although slight improvement of selectivity was observed in comparison to undoped V/TiO2samples due to lower acidity of La-doped –V/TiO2, this could not compensate the loss of activity and finally did not lead to higher butene yields.

Herein, a systematic study of the enhanced physicochemical properties of lanthanide doped (La-doped) bismuth molybdate (Bi2MoO6) is performed. For this purpose, Bi2MoO6 and La-doped Bi2MoO6 were prepared by the sol-gel method. BiCl3, Na2MoO4·2H2O, and LaCl3·7H2O were taken as the main precursors while sodium dodecyl sulfate was used as a surfactant. Both Bi2MoO6 and La-doped Bi2MoO6 were calcined at 650 °C for 2 h. These prepared materials were characterized by spectroscopic techniques such as UV–VIS, FT-IR, XRD, photoluminescence, XPS, along with other techniques such as SEM, TEM, TGA, etc. The investigation of luminescence behavior revealed that the La-doped Bi2MoO6 nanocomposite exhibited much greater luminescence compared to the undoped Bi2MoO6. The photocatalytic behavior of the prepared materials was explored by studying the degradation of methylene blue (MB) at room temperature. The degradation of MB with Bi2MoO6 and La-doped bismuth molybdate were observed to be 68% and 75% @ 45 s, respectively, indicating an enhancement of catalytic performance due to the La doping.
