Cu-added low content AuCs/AC worked as highly active, stable and cost-effective catalyst for acetylene hydrochlorination. Our findings suggest that the AuCuCs/AC catalyst can be envisioned as a viable alternative to commercial toxic HgCl2for acetylene hydrochlorination.

A kind of new adsorption material for wastewater treatment was made of fly ash as the main composition, with addition of sodium silicate, cement and pore forming material as the accessory materials, etc. Three kinds of practical wastewater were treated by using the new material, they were printing and dyeing wastewater, papermaking wastewater and coking wastewater, respectively. The results showed that removal COD efficiencies of the three kinds of wastewater were 57.89%, 71.43%, 80%, respectively, removal color efficiencies were 90%, 92%, 92%, respectively. The new developed material was mainly used for advanced treatment of the effluent water after biochemical process. It will be a substitute for activated carbon materials and have preferable application prospect.

We studied the acetylene hydrochlorination in gas–liquid phase reactions using ionic liquids (IL) as the reaction media and CuCl2 as the catalyst. The Cu-IL catalyst showed strong synergy between the IL and the Cu(II) active catalytic species. For [PrMIm]Cl, the Cu-IL catalyst exhibited significant enhancement of the catalytic activity in comparison with the CuCl2 catalyst supported on activated carbon and the IL alone as the catalyst. We have also performed DFT calculations of the reaction process, which provides a good explanation of our experimental results and for the synergetic effect. Our result suggests that ILs may be used to improve the activity of other metallic catalysts for the hydrochlorination reaction of acetylene.
