“Hidden Jewish children”, Holocaust survivors. Traumatisms and mourning. Retrospective studies. This contribution concerning traumatism and the mourning of Jewish children, holocaust survivors hidden in France during WWII, is a retrospective study on the psychological consequences in a situation of genocide in childhood. In this article two different types of research, carried out in France, will be underlined. The first concerns a group of former hidden children who created an association, more than half-century after the end of the war, to establish a self-therapeutic group. The second research studies former hidden children who have remained isolated and generally have had difficulties in metabolizing their traumatic experiences.

Background: The recognized procedures that have been used to treat gynecomastia are said to have relatively a long operative time, less patient satisfaction rate, they are merely used, in mild to moderate gynecomastia, leaves a mild bulging over the nipple areola complex, resulting in aesthetically unsatisfactory results. The more the grade of gynecomastia, the more complicated the used surgical techniques. This study evaluates the success rate of these simplest surgical technique in higher grades of gynecomastia. Objectives: to present the experiences with use of Modification of Combined Vibrated Power Assisted Liposuction with Periareolar Gland Excision in management of in different type Gynecomastia Type of the study: This is a retrospective study Methods: The study  includes the use of a modification of combine vibrated power-assisted liposuction with periareolar gland excision applied for managing different types of gynecomastia. In 23 consecutive patients (46 breasts) treated between February of 2011 and March of 2016. Results: 23 patients (46 breasts) were successfully treated using this technique. Volume aspirated in both breast was 792 ml (range, 450 to 1600 ml). Using the periareolar excision technique, the mean operative time was 55 minutes (range, 45 to 90 minute). Complications were minimal (1.5 % per breasts), and no revisions were required. Conclusions: The modified Combined vibrated power assisted liposuction and the periareolartechnique have demonstrated to be a less time consuming versatileapproach, for the treatment of gynecomastia and consistently produces a smoothcontoured male breast, it is promising method to achieve good aesthetic results in gynecomastia surgerywhile resulting in an inconspicuous scar.

Background: Intermittent infusion hemodiafiltration (I-HDF) has been performed for a number of years since this mode of dialysis became available with dialyzers used in Japan. It has been effective in some cases and ineffective in others. In this study, we analyzed and clarified these differences. Summary: We conducted a retrospective study to determine the factors affecting the effectiveness of I-HDF treatment in some patients and ineffectiveness in others and classified the complex causes associated with volume load that were identified. Key Messages: Bolus dialysate infusion in I-HDF affects the volume load (preload), and repeated bolus dialysate infusion influences both preload and afterload in patients with valvular heart disease. In this study, I-HDF was effective when brain natriuretic peptide levels, cardiothoracic ratio, and ultrafiltration rate were well controlled and cardiac load was low. I-HDF was shown to be effective in patients who are prone to developing hypotension at the end of a dialysis session. There were several factors, including different types of load, involved in inefficiency of I-HDF.

Abstract Background and Aims To investigate the efficacy of parathyroidectomy (PTX) in the treatment of persistent hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) after renal transplantation and the effect of PTX on renal allograft function. Method This single-center retrospective study enrolled 31 patients who underwent PTX for the treatment of PHPT after renal transplantation in the Kidney Disease Center of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University from May 2010 to Oct. 2018. The changes of serum calcium, serum phosphorus, alkaline phosphatase, parathyroid hormone(PTH), serum creatinine, and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) in the preoperative and postoperative periods (1w, 1m, 3m, 6m,12m) were compared. The operative successful rate (12 m) and postoperative complications were calculated. Results The serum calcium before PTX was (2.78±0.18) mmol/L, which decreased significantly to (2.19±0.34) mmol/L at 1 week postoperatively (P<0.01). The serum phosphorus before PTX was (0.76±0.16) mmol/L, which decreased significantly to (0.97±0.26) mmol/L at 1 week postoperatively (P<0.01). The PTH before PTX was (276.00±200.60) pg/mL, which decreased significantly to (46.62±104.36) pg/mL at 1 week postoperatively (P<0.01). The alkaline phosphatase before PTX was (261.59±236.95) U/L, which decreased significantly to (154.90±117.37) U/L at 3 months postoperatively (P<0.01). No significant difference was found in postoperative serum creatinine or eGFR levels compared with the baseline. The operative successful rate was 90.3% at 12 months postoperatively. The incidence rates of postoperative transient hypocalcemia, persistent hypoparathyroidism, and hoarseness were 35.5%, 3.2% and 3.2% respectively. No persistent hypocalcemia, incision hemorrhage, incision infection, or surgery-related death happened. Conclusion PTX can quickly and effectively alleviate high calcium, low phosphorus, high PTH and high alkaline phosphatase after renal transplantation. PTX is effective and safe in the treatment of PHPT after renal transplantation, and has no effect on renal allograft function.

Background: Abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) is one of the most commonly encountered gynecological problem and almost 33 % of women in gynecological outpatient department presented with abnormal uterine bleeding. Dilatation and curettage (D and C) have been the main diagnostic procedure in the evaluation of abnormal uterine bleeding patients for decades. The objective of the present study was to analyze the different types of endometrial histopathology of patients presented with the abnormal uterine bleeding and its correlation with the different types of abnormal uterine bleedingMethods: This is a retrospective study, conducted in a medical college in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology over a period of one year from June ’17 to June ’18. All cases of AUB more than 35 years of the age group who underwent D and C procedure were included in this study. Total 100 patients were analyzed. Results: Total 100 patients were analyzed. Age group ranges from 35-58 years and most common age group presenting with AUB was 35-39 years. The most common presenting complaint was menorrhagia 54% (54/100). Histopathology of endometrium showed non-organic causes in 80% (80/100) of AUB patients and the remaining 20% (20/100) had organic causes. Most common endometrial histopathology among non-organic causes was proliferative endometrium 43.75% (35/80) and the most common organic cause was endometrial polyp 40% (8/20). Endometrial hyperplasia was found in 30% (6/20) and endometrial carcinoma was found in 20% (4/20) of cases among organic causes. Conclusions: D and C is the useful and the cost-effective diagnostic procedure in the evaluation of AUB. Histopathological evaluation of endometrial samples is especially indicated in AUB patients to rule out carcinoma and preneoplastic conditions as histopathology is 100% diagnostic in cases of endometrial hyperplasia and carcinoma.
