Background: Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) is one of the most frequent and prevalent symptoms expressed by cancer patients and cancer survivors. It is a multifactorial phenomenon that causes a direct detrimental impact on quality of life. Objectives: This systematic review aims to identify different clinical evaluation scales and interventions available for fatigue associated with cancer. Materials and Methods: A methodology of the systematic literature review was carried out. Two separate databases PubMed and Google Scholar searches were performed using different MeSH terms. Results: A total of 2611 research articles were screened and identified 10 unidimensional scales (four with one item scales and six with numerous item scales) and 13 multidimensional scales which are available for the screening and clinical evaluation of fatigue. Reviews have also revealed non-pharmacological interventions such as exercise, complementary therapies, nutritional and psychoeducational interventions, sleep therapy, energy therapy, bright white light, restorative therapies upcoming anthroposophical medicine, and various pharmacological agents effective in managing CRF. Conclusion: Clinical evaluation of fatigue and its management is crucial for improving the quality of life. Yet, more rigorous research studies with higher statistical power need to be conducted on these interventions to generate adequate evidences for managing the CRF.

Background and Motivation: Diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease (PD) is often based on medical attention and clinical signs. It is subjective and does not have a good prognosis. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has played a promising role in the diagnosis of PD. However, it introduces bias due to lack of sample size, poor validation, clinical evaluation, and lack of big data configuration. The purpose of this study is to compute the risk of bias (RoB) automatically. Method: The PRISMA search strategy was adopted to select the best 39 AI studies out of 85 PD studies closely associated with early diagnosis PD. The studies were used to compute 30 AI attributes (based on 6 AI clusters), using AP(ai)Bias 1.0 (AtheroPointTM, Roseville, CA, USA), and the mean aggregate score was computed. The studies were ranked and two cutoffs (Moderate-Low (ML) and High-Moderate (MH)) were determined to segregate the studies into three bins: low-, moderate-, and high-bias. Result: The ML and HM cutoffs were 3.50 and 2.33, respectively, which constituted 7, 13, and 6 for low-, moderate-, and high-bias studies. The best and worst architectures were “deep learning with sketches as outcomes” and “machine learning with Electroencephalography,” respectively. We recommend (i) the usage of power analysis in big data framework, (ii) that it must undergo scientific validation using unseen AI models, and (iii) that it should be taken towards clinical evaluation for reliability and stability tests. Conclusion: The AI is a vital component for the diagnosis of early PD and the recommendations must be followed to lower the RoB.

ABSTRACT Background: Dysphagia is characterized by difficulty in the swallowing pattern at any stage of this neuromuscular process. It is a frequent symptom after stroke. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the most commonly used phonoaudiological interventions as therapy for the treatment of swallowing disorders in patients with dysphagia after stroke. Methods: We performed a review of studies indexed in MEDLINE-PubMed, LILACS, Cochrane, and Clinical trials.gov focusing on speech-language interventions for adult dysphagic patients after stroke between January 2008 and January 2021. Results: Thirty-six articles of clinical trials were selected. Eleven different types of therapies have been studied. Studies on the efficacy of therapeutic interventions for the rehabilitation of adult patients with dysphagia after stroke are still scarce. Most techniques are combined with conventional therapy, so the effectiveness of the other techniques alone cannot be assessed. Conclusions: Therapeutic interventions should be selected in accordance with the possibilities and limitations of the patients, and especially with the findings of the clinical evaluation and with its objective.

Background: Horses are herd animals that have been domesticated in the last century. In several countries, an overview of risk factors and clinical evaluation in horses with colic has not been well‐described. This study aimed to evaluate risk factors and hematological profiles in horses associated with colic in Gresik, East Java, Indonesia. Methods: A cross-sectional study was performed during April - October 2019. A total of 115 horses were diagnosed based on physical examination, clinical symptoms, and rectal examination. A questionnaire was asked to the horse-owners to analyze the risk factors while the clinical examination was performed and blood samples were collected for pre-treatment and 14 days post-treatment. Hematological profile was evaluated from a whole blood sample. Serum cortisol, plasma epinephrine, and norepinephrine concentrations were also evaluated after separating the aliquots.  Results: Of the 115 horses, 96 were diagnosed with colic. The horses with colic showed a significant association between cases with gender (p<0.021), breed (p<0.000), wheat bran feeding (p<0.015), concentrate feeding (p<0.003), anthelmintics administration (p<0.000), gastrointestinal parasites (p<0.000), dental diseases (p<0.024), previous exposure to colic (p<0.000), body condition score (p<0.000), and access to water per day (p<0.000). Based on whole blood and serum evaluation, there were ameliorated significantly on the hematological profile (p<0.01), serum cortisol (p<0.05), and plasma epinephrine (p<0.01) at 14 days post-treatment. Conclusion: This study has identified factors associated with colic in Delman horses. The study provides crucial information to investigate cases of colic and to contribute the development of healthcare strategies during treatment and clinical evaluation.

Abstract Background Determining the presence of modifiable risk factors for atrial fibrillation (AF), such as sleep apnea is of clinical importance due to the potential impact targeting these risk factors can have on the progression and burden of AF. Using new digital-based technology is a promising solution to the underreporting of sleep apnea highlighted by academical societies in recent years. The aim of this study is to report the prevalence and severity of sleep apnea in patients with AF and, secondarily, assess the accuracy and feasibility of a new home-screening device for sleep apnea (NightOwl™ by Ectosense). Methods DAN-APNO is a cross-sectional study at the Department of Cardiology, Herlev-Gentofte Hospital recruiting patients with AF referred to anticoagulation initiation aged 18 to 90 years without known sleep apnea. At least 150 patients will be recruited and undergo medical history, clinical evaluation, several sleep-apnea questionnaires, and a sleep-recording evaluation for four nights with sleep apnea home-monitoring device NightOwl™. Additionally, the first 20 participants and participants with moderate-severe sleep apnea by screening are referred to cardio-respiratory monitoring (CRM). This clinical evaluation allows the comparison of standard evaluation method and the NightOwl™. Clinical measures include Apnea–Hypopnea Index (AHI), Oxygen Desaturation Index (ODI), pulse rate, as well as questionaries about sleep apnea assessment and the clinical feasibility of the NightOwl™ device. Main outcomes comprise analysis of the prevalence and severity of sleep apnea, and clinical and demographic predictors of moderate and severe sleep apnea. In addition, correlation analyses for accuracy measures between CRM and NightOwl™ will be conducted along with patient ease-of-use and satisfaction questionnaires. Discussion This study is limited by selection bias; only patients with atrial fibrillation from anticoagulation clinic is asked to participate, which could limit the generalizability of our results. However, this study aims to test whether a miniaturized simple home-monitoring device for detecting sleep apnea in patients with AF potentially can evaluate sleep apnea more conveniently and easier. Trial Registration The study is registered the 18-02-2021 at clinicaltrials.gov with registration number: NCT04760002.

Abstract Background Identifying the location and scale of radiographic changes in elbow bony impingement (EBI) is critical in formulating an appropriate diagnosis and treatment plan for such patients. The purpose of present study was to evaluate the intra-rater and inter-rater reliability of the new radiographic parameters, Anterior Impingement angle (AIa) and Posterior Impingement angle (PIa), for EBI. In addition, to determine if there was a relationship between radiographic parameters and clinical evaluation. Patients and methods Three raters of different levels of training evaluated the radiographs of 60 patients (30 in EBI group and 30 in normal group) twice, at least 2 weeks apart. Intra-rater and inter-rater reliabilities were calculated by Intraclass Correlation Coefficients (ICC) with 95% confidence intervals. Correlation between radiographic parameters and clinical evaluation was calculated by Pearson correlation coefficient. Results In both groups, intra-rater and inter-rater reliabilities were substantial. There were no significant differences in reliability between upper-hand expert surgeons and resident for either measurement. Good correlation was observed between impingement arcs and range of motion values. Conclusions Both AIa and PIa measurements demonstrated substantial intra-rater and inter-rater reliability for normal radiographs and in EBI patients. Good reliability, for either expert surgeons or residents in training, and good correlation between radiographic measurements and manual testing, appoints this method may be easily and reliably used in every day practice.
