This paper proposed a pulley-buoy accelerated wave energy linear power generation system, and the feasibility and effectiveness of this system were verified through experimental research. Compared with the traditional wave energy power generation system with three-stage energy conversion links, the pulley-buoy accelerated wave energy linear power generation system omits the intermediate energy transfer and conversion link, and realizes the direct gain of electric energy from the buoy movement caused by wave, and by introducing the pulley combination, the movement speed of the buoy is enlarged, the power generation of the linear power generation system is increased, thereby the wave energy conversion efficiency of the system is improved. Under laboratory conditions, a small-size pulley-buoy accelerated wave energy linear power generation system prototype and a swing-plate wave-making system were built to explore the effects of different buoy sizes on the power generation performance of the system. The test results show that within the research scope of this paper, increasing the size of the buoy can effectively increase the wave energy conversion efficiency of the system and improve the power generation performance of the accelerated wave energy power generation system. The research results in this paper provide useful experience for the practical application and efficient operation of wave energy power generation systems.

This paper mainly introduces the design ideas of data acquisition system for wave energy conversion efficiency test system and the usage of data acquisition card.Visual C++6.0 is used as the design platform for the design of the software. The acquisition process is controlled by the multimedia timer and the real-time multi-channel data is collected through the data acquisition card Then the real-time data curve is displayed on the software interface. The collected data can be used as an effective basis for optimizing energy conversion devices.

This paper mainly introduces the design and programming ideas of data acquisition system for wave energy conversion efficiency test system. The design ideas of this software is that using VC6.0 as a design platform, multi-channel data acquisition through the serial port, and real-time curve display and save the data collected. The serial programming is to use the MSComm control to achieve serial communication between the sensor and PC serial. The software can be used in engineering practice after several tests stable and reliable performance.

In the paper, the integrated structure of a dual cylindrical caisson embodying an OWC device is designed. The seaside hemi-toroidal column of the dual cylinder caisson is an air chamber for water column oscillation while the leeside hemi-toroidal column of the dual cylinder is filled with sand for caisson stability. Experimental investigations were carried out on the performance of the OWC at different water depths, wave heights and wave periods, as well as on the layout of the caissons and the nozzle area ratio. Experimental results show that the water depth has significant effect on the wave energy conversion efficiency of dual cylindrical caisson breakwaters embodying an OWC. The new structure proposed as a breakwater or revetment structure especially arranged in a one-third convex arc has advantages in collecting more energy and creating a fine landscape environment.

Under the pressure of fossil energy shortage, rational exploitation of ocean wave energy is propitious to establish an environmentally friendly society. This paper presents the results of a practical research done in a test tank, on the hydrodynamic performance of a wave energy converter with swing arms and floaters designed purposely. Fixed on a trailer, the converter was composed of two floaters, two swing arms, mechanical transmission devices and generators. The method of this research was to measure the floater’s acceleration and the output voltages of the generator under the movement of waves, analysis the influence of wave height and period on floaters’ movement, then compute the wave energy conversion efficiency. At last, the research findings show that the converter performed well with heaving motion performance and high energy conversion efficiency.

The dielectric elastomer generator (VHB 4905, 3M) with diaphragm configuration was investigated with the constant-voltage harvesting scheme in order to investigate its energy harvesting ability. The maximum energy density and energy conversion efficiency is measured to be 65 J/kg and 5.7%, respectively. The relatively low efficiency indicates that higher energy conversion efficiency is impeded by the viscosity of the acrylic elastomer, suggesting that higher conversion efficiency with new low-viscosity elastomer should be available.
