High voltage circuit breaker (CB) is one of the most important components in high voltage circuit. In the process of operation, some kinds of mechanical faults such as jam fault, component deformation and component failure may occur and affect the performance of the circuit breaker. But, generally it is difficult to diagnose these faults. To obtain the characteristics of these faults in the high voltage circuit breaker, in this paper, a simulation method for high voltage circuit breakers is investigated. Firstly, the dynamic models of the operating mechanism of the high voltage circuit breaker are established and the simulations are performed; then the vibration signals at the monitoring points can be obtained based on finite element simulation. Based on these signals, the characteristics of some typical mechanical faults may be researched. The work in this paper is helpful to recognize the failure mechanism of the high voltage circuit breaker and improve the veracity of the fault diagnosis.

In power transformation and distribution system, unplanned blackouts caused by high voltage circuit breaker faults accounted for more than 60% of the total accidents [, most of the circuit breaker faults are caused by mechanical faults. Base on circuit breaker electrical characteristics, this paper present a method of circuit breaker mechanical faults on-line monitoring. Switching on-off of circuit breakers contacts can be equivalent to a time-varying capacitance, based on equivalent circuit model, the relationship between reactive component and time can be concluded. Processing circuit breakers contacts electric signals with orthogonal decomposition and least squares curve fitting method to highlight the main characteristics of the mechanical faults. These processed data collected from different running state can create a database, taking this database as diagnostic basis to diagnose whether mechanical faults occur to circuit breaker.

In this paper, mainly for the problem that high voltage circuit breaker closing at the random phase can bring hard harmfulness to the power system. We design the 35kV SF6-Phase Control circuit breaker can control speed smartly, and opens or closes with phase selection, which is equipped with the magnetic actuator. In the article, the static and transient simulation analysis which includes the load force, and carried out prototype trial and test validation. At last, the results of simulation and test is given.
