Based on iterative methods without memory of eighth-order convergence proposed by Thukral (2012), some iterative methods with memory and high efficiency index are presented. We show that the order of convergence is increased without any additional function evaluations. Numerical comparisons are made to show the performance of the presented methods.

We construct a family of derivative-free optimal iterative methods without memory to approximate a simple zero of a nonlinear function. Error analysis demonstrates that the without-memory class has eighth-order convergence and is extendable to with-memory class. The extension of new family to the with-memory one is also presented which attains the convergence order 15.5156 and a very high efficiency index 15.51561/4≈1.9847. Some particular schemes of the with-memory family are also described. Numerical examples and some dynamical aspects of the new schemes are given to support theoretical results.

Aim. To generalize the regional experience in implementing a package of organizational and methodical and antiepidemic measures for preventing pneumococcal infections. Materials and methods. How the prevention programs were implemented using the materials and methods of the epidemiological and statistical monitoring of the incidence of pneumonia in the Amur Region was analyzed. Pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (Prevenar-13) and influenza vaccines were used for immunoprophylaxis against acute respiratory viral and pneumococcal infections. Information on the incidence of acute respiratory viral infections and pneumonia over time in the period 2010 to 2015 must be taken into account. Indicators and special criteria are used to evaluate the efficiency of vaccination. Results. The comparative statistical analysis revealed the high efficiency of regional programs using the methods for immunoprophylaxis against pneumococcal infections: the vaccination prophylactic efficiency index in terms of the incidence of pneumonia might be as high as 75—100%. Pneumonia morbidity rates became 2.3 times lower in the vaccinated population of the region. Conclusion. The results of the investigation suggest that the Program for the clinical and epidemiological monitoring and prevention of community-acquired pneumonias, by using the vaccine against pneumococcal infection in the Amur Region, has a high medical and socioeconomic efficiency.

AlertInf is a recently developed model to predict the daily emergence of three important weed species in maize cropped in northern Italy (common lambsquarters, johnsongrass, and velvetleaf). Its use can improve the effectiveness and sustainability of weed control, and there has been growing interest from farmers and advisors. However, there are two important limits to its use: the low number of weed species included and its applicability only to maize. Consequently, the aim of this study was to expand the AlertInf weed list and extend its use to soybean. The first objective was to add another two important weed species for spring-summer crops in Italy, barnyardgrass and large crabgrass. Given that maize and soybean have different canopy architectures that can influence the interrow microclimate, the second objective was to compare weed emergence in maize and soybean sown on the same date. The third objective was to evaluate if AlertInf was transferable to soybean without recalibration, thus saving time and money. Results showed that predictions made by AlertInf for all five species simulated in soybean were satisfactory, as shown by the high efficiency index (EF) values, and acceptable from a practical point of view. The fact that the algorithm used for estimating weed emergence in maize was also efficient for soybean, at least for crops grown in northeastern Italy with standard cultural practices, encourages further development of AlertInf and the spread of its use.

Supply chain management is currently undergoing a significant digital transformation driven by the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of this study is to assess the role of digital technologies and entrepreneurship in improving the efficiency of supply chains in the pre-crisis and post-crisis periods. The paper considers GDP per capita as a value characterizing the degree of the country's well-being in the pre-crisis period; the LPI logistics efficiency index which determines the degree of development of the logistics environment in the country; the TIDL digital life index, which assesses the degree of development of the economy from the standpoint of digitalization; the GEI entrepreneurship index reflecting the degree of development of entrepreneurship in the country. A cluster analysis of countries by regression coefficients of the dependence of GDP per capita on the year is carried out. The result of the cluster analysis was the division of many countries into clusters, from which two economies were taken for further analysis. The work resulted in conclusions about a significant relationship between ICT and logistics efficiency, between the level of entrepreneurship and the efficiency of logistics in the pre-crisis period. It is shown that developed economies have high efficiency of logistics systems, high values of the rating of digital life and the level of entrepreneurship, which cannot be argued for countries with a level of development starting from the middle and below. The main conclusion of the study is the fact that, firstly, the active introduction of ICT makes it possible to restore supply chains destroyed by the crisis, to increase their efficiency, and secondly, the development of entrepreneurial activity in the country gives a serious impetus to the efficiency of supply chains, as a result of which businesses get a chance not only to survive amid a pandemic, but also gain significant benefits. This work is constrained by the lack of post-crisis data, so there is a huge spectrum to complement the current research on the stability and resilience of supply chains during and after pandemics.

A new set of predictor-corrector iterative methods with increasing order of convergence is proposed in order to estimate the solution of nonlinear systems. Our aim is to achieve high order of convergence with few Jacobian and/or functional evaluations. Moreover, we pay special attention to the number of linear systems to be solved in the process, with different matrices of coefficients. On the other hand, by applying the pseudocomposition technique on each proposed scheme we get to increase their order of convergence, obtaining new efficient high-order methods. We use the classical efficiency index to compare the obtained procedures and make some numerical test, that allow us to confirm the theoretical results.
