ABSTRACTThe coast of Ceará is an environment whose landscape changes occurred mainly in the last 20 years have been associated economic, social and political actions that are so relevant even designed new forms of use, such as industrial and port complex in addition to the installation activities such as shrimp. These forms that occupy the space are associated with other such spaces have traditionally deployed as artisanal and industrial fisheries and tourism. This study aims to evaluate and discuss the relationships between the major forms of use and the processes associated with the estuarine environment Acaraú river degradation, considering the use of the method of environmental impact assessment checklist or checklist. The area proposed for this work considered as limiting the longitudinal layout of a portion of the river estuary understood from the mouth of the river to the town of Cruz and the adjacent areas under the influence of the estuary. Keywords: Integrated analysis; Landscape evolution; Acaraú estuary of the river. The limited fossil reserves, spiraling price and environmental impact due to usage of fossil fuels leads the world wide researchers’ interest in using alternative renewable and environment safe fuels that can meet the energy demand. Biodiesel is an emerging renewable alternative fuel to conventional diesel which can be produced from both edible and non-edible oils, animal fats, algae etc. The society is in dire need of using renewable fuels as an immediate control measure to mitigate the pollution level. In this work an attempt is made to review the requisite and access the capability of the biodiesel in improving the environmental degradation.

Central Africa remained botanically unknown to the outside world up to the end of the eighteenth century. This paper provides a historical account of plant explorations in the Luangwa Valley. The first plant specimens were collected in 1897 and the last serious botanical explorations were made in 1993. During this period there have been 58 plant collectors in the Luangwa Valley with peak activity recorded in the 1960s. In 1989 1,348 species of vascular plants were described in the Luangwa Valley. More botanical collecting is needed with a view to finding new plant taxa, and also to provide a satisfactory basis for applied disciplines such as ecology, phytogeography, conservation and environmental impact assessment.
